Gwarinpa is a hilly town you’ll find along the major interstate road if you’re coming in from Gwagwalada heading towards Asokoro. It was designed to be a model city among others and so far has been meeting standard as a middle class town in Abuja. It is rapidly growing in popularity within Abuja as one of the top choices for new homeowners in Abuja.

Here are a few interesting things about Gwarinpa:

Houses

The houses tend to be duplexes or single story buildings and they are spread across various The arrangement of houses along the road is quite unlike what you’ll find in Wuse or may be Maitama where the roads are broader and houses larger in size. Here you’ll find them facing the road directly and they’re mostly duplexes or small blocks of flats.

Landmarks

Some landmarks that standout are the Punk Palace - home of Charly Boy, Chambian Plaza, Drumsticks, Mr Biggs, the Gwarinpa Model Market, Gwarinpa Estate to mention a few.

Pedestrian and Motorists

The narrow roads might not be safe for some pedestrians who want to cross the road especially at nights. The main roads in Gwarinpa are known as 1st Avenue, 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue of which smaller roads branch out. There is no barrier in the four land carriage way and the fact that commercial tricycles popularly called Keke Napep are everywhere competing with larger vehicles for every available space on the narrow roads makes driving and walking during rush hours a dangerous feat.

Social Amenities

There aren’t any street lights but the roads are in excellent condition except for a few places with pot holes. Gardens and parks like the sort you would find in central Abuja are rare to find in Gwarinpa. The drainages do their job especially during rainy season as you will thankfully not find any floods on the roads.

Social Life

Gwarinpa has a few standard night clubs, hotels and restaurants like eetsumore restaurant and bakery which is based here. Besides commercial establishments such as banks, schools and shops which accounts for much of daytime activities, social life isn’t very pronounced.
