date. In the series two we look at who a witness is and who can and
should go for Christ.


Series Two

Witnessing

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of
God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given
to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto
them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we
are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we
pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:17-20

We are called to witness for Christ, from the first series we
considered, we understood to evangelize means we are to make others
disciples and followers of Christ by preaching the gospel. We also
understood that the gospel is the most important part of evangelism and
that Christ Himself is that gospel.
We are all called to witness for Christ, once you are a Christian, you
are suppose to witness to others about Christ, It is not for some
particular set of people, we are all given the responsibility to witness
and reconcile others to God. Though we are all called to witness, many
do not, but a few that might also want to, do not know how to, so it
will be imperative to look at who a witness is.

The bible made us to understand that the physical is a picture of the
spiritual, we many at times tend to understand the things of the spirit
more when we relate it to the physical, it is not that it gives us a
perfect picture, but it gives us an idea, because the physical things
can not fully express the things of the spirit.

Who is a witness?

A witness is a person who has seen an event taken place and given a
sworn testimony to someone else, a police, or a court of law. A witness
would only say what he had seen or experienced, his opinion has nothing
to do with case in the law court, and so if he had seen or experienced
nothing, he can’t be a witness.

We are witnesses for Christ, and for us to be a valid witness, we ought
to have experienced Christ. Christ did not send us out to go and say
what we feel or think should be, but rather to go and share our
experiences with others and make them come into the fold, just like the
demon possessed man, Christ told him to go and show his household all
that Christ had done for him, Mark 5:19, also John 4 the woman at
the well.

Salvation experience

The first experience before anyone can become a witness for Christ, is
the salvation experience, if you have not met with Christ, there is no
way you can tell others about Him. When we all came to Christ, we all
had experiences, though some experiences are more dramatic than the
others, but it still remains that we all had salvation experience for no
one can come to Christ without knowing, it is a conscious thing. In
fact when we came to Christ, we know little or nothing in the word and
yet we are suppose to start evangelizing, immediately Paul encountered
Christ he started preaching, Acts 9:20. In the first few months of our
conversion, it is our salvation experiences that we will be sharing and
others will be coming to Christ. When we gave our lives to Christ, it
was an experience and we started a relationship with Him, and also that
relationship is full of different kind of experiences till we eventually
get to Heaven. We belong to God after making that decision and we are
not just save to lazy around and wait for Heaven, we were saved to
serve. When we got saved God gave us the ministry of reconciliation,
which is bridging the gap between God and others and making it possible
for them to come to Christ.

Other experiences

When we gave our lives to Christ, we are not meant to remain the same
but grow to maturity, as we grow to maturity, we garner different
experiences in our walk with God. The experience is different with
individuals according to the assignment he is called to and what God
wants to do. There is no way anyone can have this experience without
developing a relationship with God, Hebrews 5:14, Galatians 4:1, 1 Peter
2:2. To build a relationship with Him, you have to spend unique and
quality time with Him, as you would with anyone you intend to have a
good relationship with. As we spend quality time with Him, we are also
to keep doing and living the word, we are to start going out and
witnessing. There is a level in Christ you will never attain, nor an
experience you will ever know, till you start witnessing, anointing and
grace comes from doing the word.

Building a relationship with Him

Building a relationship with Christ is as you would any other
relationship for it to be strong and solid; much time ought to be
invested in that relationship. Anyone that wants to be a serious witness
can not do without spending unique and quality time in His presence,
times of fellowship with the father is very essential for growth and
experiences that can not be otherwise gained. We don’t just stay in His
presence doing nothing; we spend time in His presence to read and study
the bible, and also to pray. Not that we read and study the bible for
head knowledge, but rather for fellowship, there is also an anointing of
being in His presence which can never be otherwise experienced. We
read and study the scriptures too so that we can be equipped to witness,
but this is not the first reason we do that, the first reason is for
fellowship. 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17

Times of prayers can’t be overemphasized or undermined in the issue of
building a relationship and witnessing, prayer is communicating with the
father, so we ought to communicate with the father always to be in tune
with Him, and know what He is saying per time and His will concerning
every situation. Prayers also makes us strong in the spirit and makes us
stand against the wiles of the devil, because there will be attacks
against us as we depopulate the kingdom of darkness and populate the
kingdom of God, Ephesians 6:10-13, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Jesus called His disciples to be with Him and that He might send them
out to preach, the disciples developed a relationship with the master
before venturing into the world, Mark 3:14.

a verse of the bible said ' .....confirmed his word with signs following' # remind me of the scripture # it's when we preach the gospel/the word, thats when the supernatural manifestations of the spirit follows us. Why? Becauses God's word is anointed.

the message of the cross simply put is about Jesus and him crucified
Remember apostle Paul said the preaching of the cross is foolishness to the greeks but to us, it is the power of God. Why did he say that? Because he knew that if you told the sick man that jesus recieved 40 stripes for him, he'ld be healed he knew that if you told the sinner that Jesus was wounded for his transgressions, he would be free from sin, if you told the guilty heart that Jesus bore up that dusty heavy rugged cross and wadded his way through the streets of jerusalem in pain he'ld be free from guilt.

You are on point bro, for Christ is the gospel and needed to be lifted up more in our lifestyle and speech.

Prayer is an important factor one has to consider during soul winning. If you want to win a soul, you will first of all birth him in the spirit before planting the seed of the word in his heart and this can only be done in the place of prayer.

Thank God for fellowship, the bible says iron sharpens iron so a brother the countenance of another Proverb 27:17.

Paul here was comparing soul winning to a pregnancy, a pregnancy starts from fertilization and ends in delivery. Same way when you sow the seed of God's word in a sinner's heart it doesn't just end there, you'll need to follow him up with the word and prayer until he is spiritually matured, when he becomes planted in the lord then he's mature

If Paul planted and Apollo waters, it is the Lord that bring the increase.

The role of the Holy Spirit in soul can't but be emphasized. We will be Looking at power to witness in the next series.

I've been wondering if christians (including myself) are in fact, doing enough in this area.

i would like to research ways to preach to people who are bound by covenants they've made, or who are in sleeper cells, for example, therefore subject to whatever orders they receive from their higher ups (or suffer the consequences).

namely, how to preach to people who are dealing in death.


Many of them are already in the churches, and claim to be christians.

hmmm this is seriously worth considering, especially those bound with
covenants.

Yeah, this is the reason preaching is not done just by talking, the
bible says the kingdom of God is not in words but with the demonstration
of the power of the Holy Spirit. Also we must be constantly led by the
Holy Spirit as we minister to these category and serious prayers should
be involved too, for ourselves that we might not fall victim and the
people.

But this is mostly dependent on the people involved, the kind of
covenants and the situation surrounded it, in conclusion one should be
led by the spirit.

I will like to hear more from you and probably give some examples or
experiences

When praying for souls, your prayer points should be,
1. Pray that any barrier in their heart, preventing the light of truth from coming in should be removed.
2. Convert them in the spirit, i mean you win/birth souls in your spirit before doing that in the physical realm

Obviously many are not witnessing on this forum, and I wonder Spirit is controlling them?
