good one. @bolded,did u get 8 without approximating or 8.33?
Thanks
Yea, I got it without approximation as follows: Earls's rate is 45 per minutes and Ellen needs 1.5minute 2 do dsame job so Ellen's rate is 45/1.5=30 per minute. If both of them work for a 2 minutes(i.e a minute each) then they must have achieved 45+30=75: if they work 4 2minutes each(i.e 4minutes altogether) they achieve 75*2=150. Obviousely, if they work 4 8minutes(which is 4minutes each) they will achieve 75*4=300.so both of them working 2geda @ dia different rate will achieve d 300 in 8minutes. Dat was how I got exactly 8minutes. I can present dis in anoda language if u're nt clear

How did u treat no. 1 & 3 pls?

1. East represents the adjacent side of a triangle: 1+1+1=3miles
North represents the opposite side of d triangle: 2+1+1=4miles
Then d point from X to Y represent the hypothenus of d triangle. (Using pythogoras theorem)=square root of the squares of 3 and 4=square root of 25=5miles

3. The flagstaff has three colours:red,blue n white,let the total length be X,
X=2x/3 + 3x/10 + 4.5, collect like terms,
X/30=4.5,therefore,X=4.5* 30=135metres

for no.1, u will need to interpret the question in in diagram using the four cardinal points-North, South, west and East.if u do that correctly, u will arrive at three right angle triangles with two out of the three right angle triangles having opposite and Adjacent sides to be 1mile each. the third right angle triangle will have opposite side 2 be 2miles while the adjacent side is 1mile.from the diagram, the distance we are to calculate is obviously the sum of the Hypotenuse of the three right angle triangles which can be ascertained using the relationship propounded by my very good friend by name Pythagoras(hypotenuse^2=opposite^2+adjascent^2). for the first right angle triangle, the hypotenuse becomes (opposite^2+adjascent^2)^1/2=(1^2+1^2)^1/2=2^1/2. for the second right angle triangle, the result is thesame, for the third right angle triangle, hypotenuse=(2^2+1^2)^1/2=5^1/2 so that the sum of the three hypotenuse which is the distance we are looking for becomes 2^1/2+2^1/2+5^1/2=2(2^1/2)+5^1/2=5miles approximately.

for no.3,let x be the length of the flag, then x=(2/3)x+(3/10)x+4.5
solve the expression above for x and you will arive at 135meters.

that means 15265/37=413 per state. my probability of success, keeping all other factors constant is less than or eqqual to 5/413=0.0121. My God is a specialist in impossibility, he will do it.
