Nigeria, Oh My country Blessing you are to a continent To a people and generations For you are endowed a symbol of heaven's gift Hmmm, What a land you are Green is the grass Yet little yee harvest for the animals Like a curse A few live in affluence While many live in poverty, Oh what an irony, Like Sony, Wish I could sing to the heavens For my peoples suffering is too many In a land of plenty yet we look so empty, Oh, what a pity, For we live on hopes A land of fantasy, E – GO - BETTER” Nigeria, Oh, My country A land of drama, Like a grammar, So ambiguous to understand, From the weak institutions, To bad leadership, Religious and ethnicity, The tools for the elite And to the judiciary, Like a toothless bulldog, Adieu to justice For the law is for the poor And a toy for the rich. Hmmm, Corruption Ahhh!!!!!!, What a phenomenon, From the executives To a child unborn, A common language for all, Like a word on the wall, So tall like a flag, What about the pledge, For tomorrow is a threat, And the sun rises at it set, Like a bet, We gamble on tomorrow, So in my reflection is sorrow, Cos the future is borrowed, From the hopes of the generations, What a Nation,. For we are different in all, But united in one, Need not I mention, CORRUPTION. Nigeria, Oh, My country, A land of possibilities, What a potential, For greatness await the future, With human and natural resources, A gift of nature From the yester-years, While we nurture, We endured, And hope seems feeding, While we hoping, Aging, Like a parading shift, From pre-independent progression, To post-independent regression, Hmmm, Still I believe in tomorrow, Hoping in another day, For the sun will rise again, And the flag will fly above, In fulfillment of a purpose, Greatness.
