i had to share this sadness with someone. i think the african american community is in trouble for the next 100yrs or more. i'll be as brief as possible, add your inputs
1. the highest unemployment level
2. lowest in terms of socio-economic status
3.highest crime rate
4. broken families / unmarried girls with kids from different men

but now i see a crack between black women and black men. this one will worsen the already badly battered family status of the black community. what am i talking about?

i just saw a youtube video about black women who engage in racial and humiliating oral intimacy with white men. duringn the ordeal (that's what i'll call it) they are humiliated, dehumanized, spat on, abused, degraded . . etc . . all with their consent. they call it ghetto gaggers. i have never been ashamed of my skin color as i am today. black girls and white men. disgusting racial videos. but that is not my main issue. the main point is that there are so many youtube videos of black guys hating on black girls and vice versa. if these two groups of people hate on each other, what will that make of the race as a whole . . . bc now many blacks prefer to marry someone of another race etc.

i cant put up such videos, go to google and search for "ghetto gaggers" then look for videos and see for yourselves.
if i'm posting uncoordinated sentences, pls forgive me its bc im yet to get over the shocking stuff i've just been exposed to. my mind is still spinning.

Obviously I don't watch such. I was following a guy who runs commentary on african Americans and he talked about it. He also put a link to show such videos. I had no idea what it was bc I don't always understand the slangs Americans use. And I don't understand street language. That's why I stumbled on that piece of BS.

However, the internal outrage I experienced was unprecedented. I'm yet to recover from the shock. I have spoken to a clinical psychologist today and I've booked an appointment with him next week. I need to get over the shock. Today I went to Dayton to do some business and I just kept hating on white folks who did me no harm. And even the poor black chick that took care of me today just disgusted me. This is clear transferred aggression and I had to call a psychologist before I become a hater.

I feel better today sha, I'm dealin with it, I won't let it make me hate people. And for now I have decided to keep away from YouTube. For now my only Internet addiction is nairaland. Hopefully after seeing my psychologist next week I'll start weaning off nairaland as well.

The problems of the Black community in America are deep & complex, and will take generations of concerted effort to fix. While more & more Blacks are successful in many fields/industries, more and more the community as a whole continues the vicious cycle of this:

Not entirely. Racism is still very very real, especially rampant in certain parts of the country. But you're right, with a black man in the white house there are fewer excuses as to why we can't succeed. Me I don't know the way forward... so na to manage my own tent. Much of the black leadership also continue to foster a sense of 'victimism' among blacks, therefore perpetuating the cycle - rather than preaching empowerment and taking advantage of so many opportunities in the system, despite the bad cards you may hold.

To fix the problem, the mentality has to be slowly chipped away and replaced with progressive thinking. There is such a dearth of morals in many black communities, despite the fact they're populated with churches. The breakdown of the family unit is to main one of the biggest problems- this is the root problem of symptomatic social ills like drugs, gangs, teenage pregnancies etc...

Black people also tend to stick with other black people (attend 'black' churches, go to 'black' events, eat 'black' food, go to 'black' places etc etc). We've boxed ourselves into all kinds of stereotypes to our detriment. We need to learn to maintain our identity, and simultaneously interact with others - for collective growth. No man or race is an island. It is important to forge meaningful alliances with others, we can all learn from each other.

Starting for younger age, aim for your kids to attend good school especially one that has high number of other race children in classrooms (go for private schools), try not to live in community where only blacks are. I think it's related to the decay. Many women of all races engage in bad stuff, but this particular type of dehumanization has an overwhelming majority of black women. But then when you watch some YouTube videos you see black girls( not all) defending this nonsense. One said she has to pay her bills. Another said shes got to do what she's got to do. There's no shame in it at all. And now, with these videos online, teenagers will have access to it, and you know how the brain of teenagers work. I'll bet that by 2025 this kind of mess will be a normal thing in this country.

But why are our girls the top victims/actresses/ fools/fill-in-the-blank-spaces. And I say "our girls" bc of skin color, even if I have a different accent. Sometimes I thank God for my accent, it makes me stand out from any group. As well as the absence of tattoos on my skin.

anyways, i remember my Cardiff University lessons where we were taught over and over again not to believe everything we see or hear. but to test it and question it. well, i was emotionally gutted when i saw those videos so i couldnt question it so i had to ask for help.

yes, that's my nigeria. it aint perfect. poverty can do a lot to a woman and it may interest you to know that not everyone who calls herself an undergraduate is actually an undergraduate. i remember when i was a student back home we had what we call "non-academic students". these are people who hang around universities pretending to be students but their aim is just to give themselves some prestige and to extract more money from their male friends (we called them customers, i think these days they are called aristos) well i'm aware that such nonsense happens in nigerian universities but dont be too sure, not everyone who saya she is a student is actually a student. even the student ID can be fake.
