Every 30 seconds an African child dies from malaria, and by the end of today, the disease will kill more than 2,000 people in sub-Saharan Africa.

Despite these horrifying figures, do Africans really take the threat of malaria seriously, or is our relaxed attitude contributing to the spread of the world's deadliest disease?

Do you actively prevent yourself and your family from catching malaria by taking medication or do you see it as a common illness which you just have to put up with?

Funding for research into malaria has increased but are we any nearer finding an effective way of preventing the disease?

And how does malaria effect your community or your business? According to the World Bank it costs the African economy about $12 billion a year.

Have you contracted malaria before or have you lost love one to the disease ? Why is Malaria so devastating when it is preventable and curable? Are there cheap and effective ways of beating Malaria. Is eradication possible? Send us your views.

Too bad the African governments will never take it seriously. While doing a study abroad in Ghana last summer, someone asked why hasn't the government done anything. The answer was that if the Ghanian government tried to eradicate it what about the Togolese government and other places like that.
