The Polytechnic Ibadan Students Storm Agodi Secretariat On Protest by omolomolarinero: 7:31am On May 25, 2013
The students of The Polytechnic Ibadan led a peaceful protest to the Oyo state Government Secretariat in the early hours of yesterday. The students said they were aggrieved with the school authority as a result of the school’s failure to mobilize them for NYSC batch B 2013. The students were led by the SUG aspiring president who voiced out emphatically about the maladministration of the school and the failure of the school to get NYSC to mobilize those who are ready for NYSC. he claimed they should have been mobilized since October 2012 for the NYSC batch C but for reasons not known to them, they were not.

The same happened February this year when NYSC failed to mobilize them for batch A 2013 service. Now the mobilization list for batch B 2013 is out and they are still yet to be mobilized with the school saying that they are preparing them for October 2013, batch C mobilization. This necessitated the protest.

The Commissioner for Information, Pastor Taiwo Otegbeye, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Oyo State, Dr B.V Bello and the Director of Higher Education in the same ministry, Mr Adelodun, who spoke with our correspondence, said that the Government is already looking into the cause of the delay and Professor Afolabi, the former Head of Service of the federation, who is the Chairman of the governing council of the polytechnic is already in Abuja, trying to resolve the issue.

At the scene of the protest were the mobile police force, who were there to prevent breakdown of law and order.
