Ricardo Mannetti is the man that has taken over the reins of the Brave Warriors of Namibia after the abrupt departure of former coach, Roger Palmgren on Sunday.

“First of all, it is pride you play for, secondly you play for the national team jersey,” Mannetti told his players as reported on the Namibia Football Association website.

Mannetti held his first training session with the team on Monday and urged them to give their best against the African champions.

“The situation remains the same. We are playing Nigeria and the players are aware of that. I played for this team before and I know what is at stake and have spoken to the players as well.

He also spoke on Palmgren’s exit saying it is what happens in coaching all the time.

“Coaches come and go but the national team remains and the players are committed to running out there (on Wednesday night) and perform to the best of their abilities.

 “We need the support, all of it from the nation as we go into this crucial game. The only thing that has changed is Roger (Palmgren) leaving, but the situation remains, we have to win this game and for that we need all the support we can get”.

The Warriors need to win their last two games to stand any chance of topping the group and qualifying for the last round of qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup. They are currently third on the log with four points from four matches.

The Super Eagles should not be over confident as this people will try to disgrace then. The assistant coach may be eyeing the position of the head coach which victory over Super Eagles will give him an automatic approval.
