And there is no way Messi cannot claim he does not derive any income from this company. And if he's not been paying tax on that accrued income, he's in a sticky situation. It is tax evasion any how you dice it; because even money made abroad by a Spanish citizen is not tax free. He has to remit to his "home" IRS.

yes bro, Gibraltar is the gateway to such scheme because its a tax free haven..... but anyway, here is the catch: a footballer can say, i sold my image rights to this company yrs ago for X amount of €, thus now they dont owe me anything. while having the image rights income come back to him via some shell companies (or sent to some secret Swiss bank account), et voila!

remember, even if the company was located in Spain, they would still only have to pay CORPORATE tax on this income (aka 25-30%), rather than the 56% these footballers get taxed on their income as INDIVIDUAL tax.

so for example: if messi was earning €10Million per yr from this image rights income, then he would have to pay €5.6Million if he got the money directly, but only €3Million (at best) through such "corporate" scheme.
