ASPchris: I think Rouhani should suspend their uranium enreachment program that almost crippling their economy due to the sanction of UN since former president couldnt swallow his pride to stop the program.

That power does not entirely rest with the President, but with the Supreme Leader and the top echelons of the Revolutionary Guards!

And what will the suspension of their nuclear program bring? An end to all sanctions? Keep in mind that Iran has always been in America's shit list ever since the Islamic revolution that saw the end of the American/Western-backed Sha rule of terror, and the rise of Islamic theocracy. So no, the suspension you call for won't change anything. On the other hand, the nuclear program successfully served as a deterent against American and Isreali interference. If the west want a nuclear-free middle east, let them equally call for Isreal to scrap their fully.

mu2sa2: We learn from the way the election was conducted - a whopping 73% turnout of 50m voters, no ballot box snatching, no voter molestation by security personnel, no thuggery, no rigging. Clean election- free and fair, free from fear. This election is even more transparent than US election.

I think Iranians deserve some credits here. Theirs is far more credible than Naija's. It's the only country in Middle East that regularly holds election. Saudi,UAE,Kuwait,Jordan all US/EU friends have never held elections.

you must be an underagesad for ur info, Iran's democratic process is a false one. The president is just an administrative head. The Ayatollah actually runs d country. @topic the world has to be very careful wt Iran. This so-called moderate president-elect may be an extremist in sheep's clothing. The questions are: will he give up Iran's nuclear ambitions? Will he stop state-sponsored terrorism? Is he going to reduce tensions wt d west as he promised during his campaign? Will he recognize d state of Israel? Time will tell. Personally I see an America-Iran alliance as a catalyst towards a one world govt bearing in mind that North Korea is almost falling in line wt d US. Not forgettin that d most powerful islamic nations i.e saudi arabia, qatar and turkey are already staunch allies of d US. all these predictions if true, will culminate in d coming of our lord Jesus as the bible has prophesied.

spark@wil:

Will he stop state-sponsored terrorism?

NO, it's a state policy. Only supreme leader and guardian council possess power to renounce this policy.

Is he going to reduce tensions wt d west as he promised during his campaign?

MAYBE! Afteral tension with the west is not in Iran's best interest.

Will he recognize d state of Israel?

NO, NEVER! This will shake the very foundation of the nation which is based on fierce anti-semitism.

What was credible in the election? After some powerful council controlled by Ayatollah had handpicked those who finally contested. There's nothing credible in the process. Besides,i don't really see any change in foreign policy. Ayatollah is still the supreme leader. Iran will keep pushing for Nukes technology. I only hope for the Iranian sake, there will be peaceful negotiations and result oriented talks with World powers and ease of sanctions.

Iranians had the choice to choose among 6 honorable men for president.the americans only have the choice to choose between two men,who are forwarded by the democrats and republicans.yet some people brainwashed by israeli and american propaganda want us to believe iran is not a democracy, but the US is.

In the US,the supreme court presided by 5 judges (who are not elected but selected) can over turn the decision of the president of the united states.in iran, the supreme leader who is the guardian of the 1979 islamic revolution, who can over turn the decision of the president,is elected by the guardian council made up of 12 Shia Muslim clerics of high prominence in islamic scholarship, who are directly voted for by the iranian people.in other words those who elect the supreme leader are chosen directly by the people, just like members of parliament can nominate a prime minister or approve.in america, those who can over turn the president's decision are chosen by the president himself.why is iran less democratic than the US,and why is the supreme leader of iran a "dictator" while the 5 judges of the american supreme court, the two parties (democrats and republicans) or the american president himself are not dictators? Must everyone follow the american system to be seen as "democratic"? Or does america and israel reserve the right to name who is democratic and who is not? At least iran have a new leader every four years and iranians vote for the man of their choice.but america's allies like saudi arabia, qatar and bahrain are oppressive and dictatorial monarchies that don't even allow people to choose an headmaster talkless of an head of state.

In the UK,the queen appoint the prime minister, who is most likely from the labor party or conservatives.the party members in the british parliament are no different from those elected members of the guardian council.the supreme leader doesn't get the chance of having his child inherit power.he is voted for by the elected members of the guardian council, who are respectable scholars.yet britain that doesn't have the choice for its monarch to be elected by the people directly or indirectly (through members of an elected body or council) is a "democracy" but iran with an (indirectly) elected supreme leader (just like a british PM), who is chosen and doesn't pass power through inheritance,is "not a democracy".people are really crazy thanks to the blind power of american propaganda".

Do you know for how many years now that Israel has possessed nuclear weapons? Yet they have not even not even publicly acknowledge their possession but Iran who is yet to has already started making threatening remarks already. You don't allow children carry sharp weapons because they can easily hurt themselves or those around them- nuclear weapons are for those those who have come of age and can control their temper. Also for your information most of the gulf arab states also see Irans development of nuclear weapons as a threat.

You missed the point. Compare Iran's election to Naija's election, which is one more credible? Iran is light years ahead Saudi,Kuwait, UAE, Jordan all EU/US allies because they don't know what voting means, because their countries have never given them the option to exercise their rights!
