Bye to sexual Addiction by Nobody: 2:29pm On Jun 25, 2013
After reading Seyi’s story here on nairaland… I got sober cos I know I have a bigger problem in my hand. This is because I am addicted to pornography and sex…worst of all sex is something I engage in almost every day not only with my wife as I am married with 4 kids. I started having sex at 11 and now I am 38. It doesn’t take my wallet and look to get sex whenever I wanted. I don’t know how it happens but my wishes in having sex get settled whenever I thought of it. I got home started searching for material on overcoming addictions. Now I think I am getting my life back as my though-line since last night has been devoid of anything immoral. I am quitting pornography and adultery for real. I know the battle just start but I will overcome on the strength of God’s GRACE

That's great. Goodluck to you. wink. Turn to God, you will find help and solace. Also use the time you use to do your activities to spend quality time and spend the money on your family. Life is too short o. Before you know, they will be grown and out of the house. kiss

You can get it done because it is a very big problem and only a firm decision by your good self can help you to overcome this problem.
You have to ask God to help you. It happened to me and I took a decision by the grace of God, I dont even think about it any more and even counsel people on this issue. It is a very big demonic problem.
I am glad today that even if a woman who is not my wife go naked, I will not have any single feelings and I enjoy intimacy with my wife. You can do it when you can ask God and holy spirit to help you out.
Re: Bye to sexual Addiction by bellong: 8:43pm On Jun 25, 2013
Good news brother. You will enjoy it better and I know your wife will be happy for it. Above all, heavens are rejoicing over your decision.

It is going to be a long and hard road but the grace of God is available to see you through it. You also need to be firm in your decision and flee any appearance of evil.

Do away with any material, site and event that can weaken your decision or resolution. It is now time to hold on tenaciously to your wife and instill this new value in the children.

It is well with you

On June 25th I made a U turn from addiction to sex on the strength of the GRACE of God...and I am glad about the life I live now. Since then I have control over my libido. Its amazing and I am liking it that way. I cut off all my numerous girls politely...secured my wife's support, destroy materials that can trigger the desire...I just thank God. I am posting this cos it has helped me. By this action (posting on this tread) I AM ACCOUNTABLE to you guys. That is the way I see it. I have to give account of my break-away on this tread since its going to be a long battle, fighting and living one day at a time

In my opinion there is no such thing as sex addiction, it is a cope out and an excuse to say I am not a asewo. You are just a guy with high sex drive, who most likely has no business being married. There are so many argument about whether sex addiction is real or not real. In my opinion, i believe it is not real. You, my friend, are just a guy who has a high sex drive and one woman cannot satisfy you. The reality of the matter is, those urges will come back and most likely you will satisfy them, that is a FACT

@OP,

Let nobody confuse you. You have chosen to do what is right and it is achievable. We as humans are meant to control our sex-ual drive and not the other way round. Its one of the differences between an animal and human being.

I did not mean to be so blunt. But I don't believe the problem here is sex addiction. If you read his post, he said he started sex at age 11, sex at that very young age can be dangerous. Humans react differently, you will have some who are victims of sexual abuse and they never become promiscuous. Then you have others who are abuse and they have zero control over their sexual desire.

Who was having sex with him at age 11? Was it an agemate or an adult? Agemate or adult doesn't make any difference cos it is still sexual abuse. He doesn't have sex addiction, his behaviour stems from being sexualised at a very young age, that is the root of his problem. He needs to deal with this trauma so he can heal properly. I will advice to go seek a professionally trained counselor or he will continue having this issue

This should have come earlier. You have a point here. What I didn't agree with in your previous post is where you said he cannot overcome it as he must find a way of satisfying his drive/addiction.

Now, he realises the problem and he is taking conscious effort to remedy the situation, all what he needs is advice and encouragement not the previous impossible task you suggested. Your new post is a good advice for him.

Thank you

I still believe in my statement earlier. Monogamy is not for everyone. In the ideal world, everyone will be monogamy, but we don't live in the ideal world. That subject is a very very sticky and controversial, so that is for another post. In short, the root of his problem is being sexualised at a young age. He needs to seek professional help for it, if he truly want to conquer is current situation.

Good move from your side. What I will say is that you shouldn't beat yourself blue if you find yourself tempted or falling once in a while at the early stage. Just pick yourself up and forge ahead.

keep trying bro, you will get there.

I can identify with this. My cousin was sexually abused at a very early age and she ended up being promiscuous. But she later got married and she is still married with kids.

The first step is what he has done - identifying that there is a problem. I believe with his positive mindset and attitude and with the help of his wife, he can achieve this God willing.

I wanted to drop the steps on how to unfollow me until I saw this. I'm glad you've found the strength to fight your weakness. Its not everyone that succeeds in taking that bold step and sticking with it. Sex addiction is an ugly thing, especially if it happens to a married person like you. I've seen pains it could cause to relationships, and, although I ain't married yet, I know it can break up marriages and cause havoc.

I'm happy for you, and I pray you find the strength to continue in this right path you've chosen. Don't forget to be prayerful, b'cos the weapon of our warfare is not carnal, but mighty in pulling down strongholds.

Peace be with you brother.

Kudos.

Thank you Mazi. I could see sincerity in the tone of your post. You come across as once a church boy...were you a church boy like me? Thank you once again. I am glad that I am getting my life back. My decision is being aided by the strength of God's GRACE. Not my effort but the GRACE at work though I have to admit that its a long battle. Meditations, prayers and keeping good company

Thank God for His grace at work in you. But don't underestimate the power of Works. Bible said faith without works is dead. His grace abounds, but you still have to put up the works to spice up your faith.

Finally, the bible warned that you don't be equally yoked with unbelievers; so withdraw your self from the past friends that made you urge to return to the old man.
Since the bible warned about being yoked with unbelievers, I will coolly withdraw myself from your thread as I might be seen as 'unbeliever'cheesycheesy
