UEFA Award, Messi And Ronaldo Battle For The Award by Xflint(m): 9:53pm On Jul 10, 2013
Lionel Messi strongly believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is the favourite for the UEFA award after he finished as the highest goal scorer in the Champions League with 12 goals.

Right here I'm not so sure but however I think this award could go to any of the five bayern Munich shortlisted players.

The first Shortlisted list

1. Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona)
2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
3. Gareth Bale (Tottenham)
4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germaine)
5. Robert Lewandoski (Borussia Dortmund)
6. Robin van Persie (Manchester United)
7. Thomas Müller (Bayern Munich)
8. Franck Ribéry (Bayern Munich)
9. Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich)
10. Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich)
11. Xavi Hernández (FC Barcelona)
12. Andrés Iniesta (FC Barcelona)
13. Edison Cavani (Napoli)
14. Javi Martínez (Bayern Munich)
15. Philip Lahm (Bayern Munich)
16. Dante (Bayern Munich)
17. Manuel Neur (Bayern Munich)
18. Mario Mandzukic (Bayern Munich)
19. Mario Götze (Borussia Dortmund)
20. Ilkay Gündogan (Borussia Dortmund)
21. Andrea Pirlo (Juventus)
22. Arturo Vidal (Juventus).

The Second 10 list

1. Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona)

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

3. Gareth Bale (Tottenham)

4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germaine)

5. Robert Lewandoski (Borussia Dortmund)

6. Robin van Persie (Manchester United)

7. Thomas Müller (Bayern Munich)

8. Franck Ribéry (Bayern Munich)

9. Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich)

10. Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich)

Sixteen other players did not make the final cut, including FC Barcelona men Xavi Hernández and Andrés Iniesta. Those that missed out also include Edison Cavani (Napoli), Javi Martínez (Bayern Munich), Philip Lahm (Bayern Munich), Dante (Bayern Munich), Manuel Neur (Bayern Munich), Mario Mandzukic (Bayern Munich), Mario Götze (Borussia Dortmund), Ilkay Gündogan (Borussia Dortmund), Andrea Pirlo (Juventus), and Arturo Vidal (Juventus).

It is believed that the final list will be announced at the Champions League draw ceremony held in Monaco on August 29th.
