The cause of goitre is a lack of or very low blood iodide level. Theunivesal remedy for goitre is to increase the 'iodine' level in the blood. Because iodine is not readily found in staple foods, it is supplied through the common table salt. Just make sure you make use packaged iodized salt when preparing your meals. Iodine intake may not reduce the goitre size as quickly as desired/expected (cos goitre is caused by a low iodine intake over a very long period of time), however it will ensure that the goitre doesn't increase in size. #shikena |

@felvet In my research, i've found out that there is no rapid cure sharp sharp for goitre. With adequate treatment (that is iodine intake), the size of the goitre reduces slowly. It may take years though. . .the same way it takes years for goitre to form in the first place. If the lump(goitre) is interfering with swallowing, it can be removed surgically but it is risky |

The diagnosis shows that it is a simple goitre, does not interfer with swallowing, yet the doctor insisted on surgery as the only remedy, though I don't buy his idea. |

my dear, I advice u heed to ur doc advice that will be very wise of u. my cousin did hers years back cos she heeded to doc instruction. dat was the only cure. Today she is a happy woman. my landlady during my school days resorted to herbal and others, it all failed her, the goitre enlarged to Orange size before she did d operation, it was successful. Pls stop asking for what u won't get , once goitre has develop the only cure is surgery. 1 Like |

is really a goitr? some thyroid neoplasms or tumour look like goitre. treatment of goite depends on size and symptoms. if it is small doctors may suggest dietary approach with use of iodine supplements. if causes hypothroidism throxine hormone treatment can be given to shrink the size of goitre and treat hypothyroidism. if causes obstructive symptoms like dysphagia and difficult breathing or too big or not responding to above treatments surgery is indicated . tissue removed must be submitted for histopathological examination. if it is toxic goitre radioactive iodine or surgery is indicated. pls see a qualify doctor. pls see doctor in specialist hospital. all the best. |

Felvet: Can someone help with this pls? You can get pure iodine supplemnts commonly nicknamed *kelp* but if its so big dt it causes discomfort, it is advisable you go 4 a surgery |

You will notice a visible reduction in the size of the goitre if you take Moringa powder religiously for a period of 3 - 4weeks and a general feeling of well being.
