Tito Vilanova, the Barcelona FC manager has stepped down due to the recurrence of the throat cancer. Tito's cancer has been a battling the cancer since 2011 and it seems that the disease has worsening.

The Barcelona president announced the sad event yesterday in three minute conference with the press, though he did not take any questions he mentioned that a new coach will be announced in a few days.

Vilanova's doggedness with regards to this illness has let Barcelona loose out on its first choice managers in the person of Luis Enrique the former Barcelona B team coach who also played for Barcelona during his playing day and Ernesto Valverde who also just committed his future to Athletic Billbao.

Barcelona has a pick from home policy when it comes to managers, they choose coaches who understand the Barcelona philosophy of playing football and continuity is a major primary foundation of any appointment.

The names that are been thrown around include the current assistant coach Jordi Roura who managed the club for 3 months last season when Vilanova was away in New York for treatment, AVB of Spurs and Mancini the recently fired boss from Manchester city. The other more likely name is Michael Landrup the Swansea bus who is a Barcelona legend in his own right. He played with Tito Vilanona and Pep during his time in Spain. He is also instilled with the same footballing philosophy as Tito and Pep which reflect in the Swansea style of play.

Landrup was earlier link to Real Madrid at the beginning of the summer to success Jose Mourinho but he at the time mentioned he did not think he was ready for a job of that magnitude. That being said will he take Barcelona Job if offered?
