With all the indispensable grants from the computer companies, experts have been trying to create something which could be an amazing solution for typographical errors. Now, a German start up has come with an idea to offer a safety solution to the generation old human writing.

The device/pen known as Lernstift or the learning pen in Germany is actually a digital pen which is loaded with not only ink but a tiny computer which alerts the user about any grammatical and spelling errors. Daniel Kaesmacher, the co-founder of this unique pen told in an interview that these are the basic functions and apart from these the pen will also help the user to correct individual letters. It so happens that when you are bound to commit a spelling error, the pen starts vibrating and alerts you about the error.

The pen uses a simple AAA size battery to power its computer. It also has a non-optical motion sensor which identifies the specific movements of letters and words. There is also a gyroscope for measuring the orientation, an accelerometer for calculating propulsion and a magnetometer for measuring the length and direction of the magnetic fields.

Lernstift is capable of recognizing all sorts of writing gestures and it can be combined with the WiFi and can be used as an air-writer for smartphones, tablets and other notebooks. The pen has been invented by Falk Wolsky, a softer developer who got frustrated after seeing his wife’s struggle in helping her son out in his homework. His imagination quickly fired back and he started to assemble softwares for a prototype.

The main purpose of the pen is to be a primary education tool and it could be very well used for children facing dyslexia. It is a new idea, which can be very well implemented in these areas. To see the effect and the readiness of people to accept it, a launch campaign was organized recently. The main targets were the schools and universities.

The pen has been designed to pick English and German spelling errors, but soon other languages will follow as this is only the starting phase. These days since not too many people use a simple pen and paper for writing, this pen will bridge that gap and inspire many to the traditional form of writing.

The makers of the pen have also planned to create similar pencils and both fountain and ballpoint pens with a starting price of around $50 for pencils and $160-$200 for pens.
