I studied Mechanical Engineering and now work as a CFD engineer. I use numerical modelling and simulations to test, design and optimise mechanical power systems; fluid flows, combustion processes, fluid mixing and reaction processes, etc.

I don't hear a lot about CFD in this part of the world. What companies do you know in the country that use CFD in their designs and operations? What are the job prospects for CFD engineers here in Nigeria? I'm just curious to know how this powerful tool is being used in Nigeria. CFD is extensively used in engineering design, product development, research & development and in academic research. CFD finds applications in virtually all engineering disciplines; be it mechanical (aeronautical, aerospace, automobile, power plants, etc.), electrical/electronics (electrical power systems and design of silicon chips heat dissipation system), civil (hydrodynamics, fluid structure interaction between dam and water), chemical (reaction kinetics, process systems, etc.), petroleum (flow of oil and gas), biomedical engineering (flow dynamics of blood in human body), etc.

What is your experience with the use of CFD? Let's share our experiences here.

Hello, I share the views of GreatMan5. I am curious to know the employers of labour for Process Modelling Engineer/Process Research Engineer with specialisation in CFD (hydrodynamic parameter predictions by the fusion of imaging technique to dynamic gas disengagement process within the framework of Population Balance Model of bubble sizes) in a bubble column reactor (BCR). I have a doctorate research experience in this field for BCR performance description and BCR process optimisation spanning 4.5 years and I am keen to know enabling working organisations provided by potential employers in Nigeria. I am in SA at the moment willing to relocate home.

Would you suggest only universities?

I look forward to reading replies/reactions.

Hi Greatman and others. I am a mech engineering graduate looking to further in CFD. I hope to do a masters either in the UK or Canada. I need mentorship though

Hi GreatMan5,

Can I reach you on your email. Got something important to discuss.
