in the street in the maghreb we have our local language , the algerian , tunisian , moroccan languages ( its a mix between modified local arabic , berber , french , spanish turkish words ) , with little difference from region to other and not many difference between tunisian , algerian , moroccan street speaking , but other arabs coutries can t understand it . their is also the ancestral berber language ( amazigh ) 20 to 30% of population speak it specially in some region ( north center and north east , extrem south of algeria) , (north west morocco Rif region ) , tunisian dont have a lot of amazigh speakers .

Now at school , first language tought from primary school is arabic ( the classic arabic ) the first official language in north africa , used in news official events , by journalist , politics ect... ( and we use it to talk with others arabs) , 2nd language In proportion of use is french (most poeple speak it too) toght from primary scholl to, its used in the university for most studies , Tv news, by intellectuals ect ..... and of course amazigh ( the 2nd official language with also variations from region to another and a classic standard version used on tv) .

+ we study english from middle school (3rd language tought at school) , only few poeple understand it, the intellectuals, the young amateurs of music, cinema ...... , and others languages are taught for literary sections in high school ( dutch , spanish ...) . in university you find all language mostly used in the world .

egyptian speak an arabic close to middle east countries , close to classic with few local modification , easy to understand by all arab countries du to the hudge egyptian cinema industry from the 60s and have english second language in studies

Wow, that's a really detailed response! Thank you

Who thought it would learn something on nairaland!

You mean you will have to suffer from facts and reality?

Ironic that you talk about fanboyism and then mention that

I'm actually neutral in these exchanges but do you insist I replay the whole deafening Grip episode!? I didn't want to go there but let me show you how this thread almost turned into TOT thanks to an automatic Grip fanboyism. Many Naijjans admitted price was a factor-who wants to pay 70 mn$ for a single engine but you guys screaming drowned out what some tried to say about the JF 17.

A. Operates inferior weapons needs to be upgraded to use other weapons. Raising costs.

- Similar to your ipad or computer operating system you won't have certain features or use some applications if you're stack with a previous operating system. With that said to use say 5th generation missiles like the IRIS-T SRAAM you'll need "certain features" to use them. So your country will have to pay millions for this.

- Mostly which are inferior to what is available in the market. Like in terms of air to air weaponry it is limited to Chinse and a few Brazilian AAMs. Nothing impressing besides the PL-12.

- The RD-93 is just problem. One SA company fitted the original one the 33 on a Mirage.

Gripen is much much better than F-16, F-18, F-15 in terms of RCS size. Typhoon and Rafael are more powerful than gripen because of their twin engines that help them to carry more weapons but still the gripen outperform them in term of RCS size. Meaning it will defeat them when it is armed with the best BVR weapons.

- That the JF-17 is 3rd gen and a daylight interceptor?

Okay,this is what I mean!

Why would you argue with someone who believes a south african gripen. Light single multirole fighter (old version) is better than an SU 30mk2?

But the Junk Fighter remains the weakest fighter of all time with many limitations.

At the same time you slagged off Hinds bigging up Rooivalks which I myself admit is a good platform. This whole tone takes the thread to a stinky place-which is my point.

What was the Mk1 ?
The R-4 was a straight up, licenced Galil clone. There was no "teething" problems, because the gun was at that point fully developed and tested by the Israelis in pretty harsh conditions. The steel mags worked so well that the SAP guys constantly tried buying some from me, because they felt it was better than their plastic mags.

Ammo was as good as any NATO rounds of the day. Like I said, the only problems I'm aware of from my years in the SADF and being around thousands of R-4's was the 35 and 50 round mags being overloaded by troops. I have a Golani sporter in my gun collection to this day. There's problems with some of them here in the US, because some were rebuilt out of parts kits by companies who didn't know what they were doing. I actually plan on selling my POS Tavor and buying a 7.62x39 ACE as soon as I can get my hands on one.

As for the guys character, there was a arrest warrant out for him when he died and if he was into that type of thing I wouldn't put it past him to make up BS.
Either way, one of my friends here is an ex Rhodie SAS and 44 Pathfinder vet. He runs the us chapter of Rhodesian/SA bushwar vets here in the US. Said he'll make some enquiries about this guy. Theirs lot of guys in the US and UK claiming they were Rhodie SAS/44/32/recce (take your pick) vets. Some of them were actual bona vide US/UK vets and even some SF guys trying to boost their CV's at a time when the US/UK armies didn't have a lot of combat experience. Pretty easy for them to sniff out a BS story, because the community is so small and they all know each other.

kikuyu1:

Yes,but his was obviously the Mk 1 which had typical teething issues. The child porn thing wasn't relevant.

Nigeria needs to realize that there is not a military solution to haram and especially if they continue to torture and kill civilians

First off, the details of just how a Grip can beat a Su30MKI are laid out in great detail in an arrival posted by one of the foremost civilian authors in the country

And Gripen only stands a chance in BVR and if armed with Meteor missiles

I find it curious that you would accuse others of fanboyism and then post a fanboy image comparison of the Grip and the JF-17

May I remind you that I beleive it was you guys who started off with the whole thing attempting to compare the JF-17 to be the Grip

Anyway, let's not go down this road again

Sound nice, fir some moment im hearing stuff like military solution can not end boko haram ... I hope that you guys are joking right ...
How in the hell do you want to stop boko haram without military there are no way to stop people with guns attacking you without using guns to... And the only moment they will accept negociation is when you will be winning ... Stop this bullshit, if you want to prevent the creation of groups like boko haram in the futur so yes use the economy/education everything but at the moment the group isnactive there is no way to end a militant group without using military force
