170? That means they have been enjoying low unemployment rate all these while! Do they know how many thousand unemployed professional teachers there are?

If jobless pilots in Nigeria are just average, 170, then jobless graduates of engineering in Nigeria shd be 170x170x170x170x170x170x170...;

Law: 170x170x170x170x170x170x170...;

Agriculture: 170x170x170x170x170x170x170x170x170...

eforce: Why would nigerian pilots be employed, when there is no good aviation school in the country and you cannot train on the job. If they went to the best aviation colleges overseas, they would comeback as expatriates. That is what NIGERIA has turned into now.
I dont think you know the meaning of expatriates. for your education, it means somebody working outside his country of origin usually a professional. so, If those nigerian pilots should get job outside our shores, they will be made reference to as expatriates

dolphinife: Been a stakeholder in the aviation sector, I have known overtime that Nigerian airlines are the ones killing the local innitiative. They always resort to expatriates simply because they are cheaper to get in terms of renumeration and salary compared to Nigerian pilot.

The situation is even worrisome to the extent that almost all the ground operations of arik air are eexpatriates especially those manning the international route. Moreso, dearth of aviation schools with up-to-date equipment is another problems contributing to this unemployment. For a pilot to start flying in Nigeria, d basics is for him to have atleast 200hours flight time. How can a fresh graduate get 200hour flight time when there is inadequate flight training equipments.

really so Arik is always bragging that they hire Nigerian pilot, but only expatriates time to send an email!

Yes o many of them are jobless including Omotola Jalade's husband....remember Jimoh Ibrahim sacked him due to non-commitment to the profession. If some of the Nigeria pilots carry you for plane, na your last prayer you go dey say. Most of them are just life riskers, they should study the craft very well. Anyway, 170 is still small compared to the rate of it in other sectors. By the way, shebi Dana Air get vacancies..make them apply na abi them dey fear? They should better apply cos anyhow e be, man go chop.

dolphinife: Some of us are talking out of ignorance. For a pilot to cough out about 10million naira just to be a pilot, do you think its easy? Moreover, pilot is very different from degree, we are talking of practical aspect.

You hardly find an unemployed pilot in any country. If not that our airlines are opting for expratriates, all those 170 wou have got a job.

For your information, the more a pilot stays at home, the more he becomes a sky-risk to flight. Since the job is about practical, a pilot must always fly every now and then or else, be expecting an air crash soon.

Infact, no pilot suppose to stay a day at home.....they are different from your yeye certificate una dey carry all about

Exactly why they deserve to be unemployed , anybody that will spend ten million Naira to become a pilot in a country that has less than 50 planes flying its commercial airspace has himself to blame ..All of them went in there not because they had a passion to fly but because they heard pilotsa are well paid .. Do U know 10 million will set up an SME that will grow in a few years to becaome another Dana and from there like dana they can even open an airline like Dana.. Besides piloting is a global practice , if there is no demand for their service in Nigeria they can apply @ Lufthansa, BA and some other airline in Ukraine because what Nigeria needs for now are youths with Ideas that create Jobs for those who can't think up solutions and not some overated pilot career

eforce: Let me give them the advice, everybody gives to unemployed youths in Nigeria, start a business, become self employed, let money work for you and not you for money.
Bet me, some of you make this noise probably you have some little capital or you have who you fall back to for it. Some of this graduate don't have a dollar in their account, where will they start from? if you are given equal opportunity with those graduate, you can't beat them. non of them want to be idle; the system produced them the way thy are"garbage in garbage out" so if yu want to help them set up skills acquisation center where you train them and give them soft loan. stop all these your unprofited contributions

mr watever u call urself. dont say that because we gave the expats opprtunity, they have entered. lets put our house in order and show that we are capable and then the airlines would stop picking expats. everytin imported is cheaper and better than locally manufactured things including labor. you want to blame everytin on govt and expats. what r u doing to improve the situation other than being greedy and always on strike. nonsense.

the earlier the better youths wake up and think up ideas.

mentally develop THEMSELVES and instead of seeking for government aids and employments, help the government create jobs.

why seek employment when you can be an employer?

shake off the dust off your feet, dare to dream, arise out of thy comfort zone and make jobs available.

for on the shoulders of most of us lies the destinies of a multitude yet unborn. we cant afford to fail them because government didnt feed us with its pence and crumbs.

for a fact, civil servant job is the least kinda job anyone with a dream and sole passion, would seek for.

for a lot have lost their bearings in such terrains. how cud a young and dynamic soul be subjected to the monotonous merging of meaningless days and be able to fulfill his potentials? no challenge, no targets, you wake up, go to work whenever you feel like, close whenever, then you grow old and retire, then start queuing up for gratuity that would never come? OH WHAT A PITY!

ARISE OH NIGERIAN YOUTHS, FOR NOW IS OUR TIME!

Please, if any body is looking for a matured and ignorant individual who does not know how to respect other people's professions. He should not go further from here. Calling an Engineering certificate and others in Nigeria Yeye only projects the quantum of your ignorance, since even your Governor and President whom you expect to come to the aid of these Pilots are products of the "Yeye certificates".
