Happy Democracy Anniversary!

Today May 29th 2006, Nigeria celebrate Democracy day, this is to stimulate political attention and action as we quest towards environmental sustainable development and equity. In the President's speech, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo encourage Nigerians to promote creativity towards environmental sustainability. NIgeria is moving towards transition in 2007.
The youth should respond to the President's speech by getting involve in creative ideas and innovations to ginger and sustain our nascent democracy.

Those things you have mentioned are personal problems. They have nothing to do with democracy.

what purpose of celebrating democracy day nepa is not functioning.
Ask the government to completely deregulate the power sector so we can generate power for you!

This is good news for Nigeria. However, you might want to take a look at my thread called Peaceful Solution To The Nigerian Question. It has some really solid recommendations that would ease tensions and set Nigeria on a true path to sustainable economical and cultural growth.

There is nothing to celebrate, no electricity, no water, unemployment is increasing, the Naira is worthless compared to other currencies, no security.
We are still where we were seven years ago,
Re: May 29th: Happy Democracy Day In Nigeria! by DaHitler(m): 8:58pm On May 29, 2006
Jalal, you have "Proudly Nigerian" in your sig, but yet you say there is nothing to celebrate. You are either lying about your pride for Nigeria or you are lying that there is nothing to celebrate. Which is it?

This guy does not seem to realise that now in Nigeria, if anybody from the presidency greets you good morning, you need to confirm whether it is actually morning.
Check out the rate of lies and actual denials right from the Boss to special assistants.
On democracy day I thoroughly enjoyed myself, it was the third day of no electricity. grin

Usually when a day is set aside to commemorate an event, something spectacular must have occurred on that day/date to warrant such declaration. What special event happened on May 29, 1999 to warrant the government declaring it Democracy Day? Have we not had a democractic government before this one? Is this present government a trully democratic government? Is a government whose head is a hardcore dictator fit to declare a democracy day? Absolutely no.
What sort of democracy are we celebrating when the constitution of the country is not obeyed, court rulings are set aside if it does not favor the ruling party, the vote of the masses does not matter in an election (Remember Chris Uba and Anambra politics of selection and that our so called defender of democracy acquiesced and approved the fraudulent rape of the electoral will of the people). OBJ cannot pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians. He can fool us one time but not all the times. It is fraudulent on the part of the government to declare May 29 democracy day, because we are far from being a democratic state. We are still yearning for true democracy, and we cannot get it from this present crop of corrupt and self-serving leaders.

Democracy do not really mean Demonstration of Craze. It means our right to freedom. Thai freedom ranges from social freedom, educational freedom, right to development, human right generally as should be understood by a real student and a legitimate academician and leader.

Our country's problem is not really about airing our personal bitter views but I believe in the saying that think about what you can do to save and serve to wards our own livelihood.

In this country the Government makes policy to suit the livelihood of the citizen but are the citizen willing to follow the policy and principles of our county's innovation towards the sustainance of livelihood in a sustainable environment.

Every body wants the president to do every thing but what can we do ?
Lets think well to suite the constitutional provisions of our country.

Take for instance it is the duty of every Nigerians and the companies operating in this country to support every project and programmes that will encourage sustainable development especially in our rural areas and communities. But it's so disappointing to observe and see that the Managers are not adhering to their professional ethics and code of conduct, most of them the manner of approach are extremely poor. The government are the owners of the tools we use to operate. It is the secondary Managers who are not protecting the ethics and the code of conduct of their professions that spoil our country due to greed, dishonesty and corrupted minds.

Democracy means that two heads are better than one.

Some foreign companies operating in Nigeria are willing to assist in our development but our people believe in getting what they do not deserve and probably if you are a manager some one sent a proposal to your company seeking for assistance and support to execute a particular programme, instead supporting a good idea but we resolve to hijacking the idea for a personal interest of seizing the allocation to wards the idea for some other things that is base on personal interest.

Who is to be blamed on this its us so long as democracy is concerned.

Know your right and project it legitimately for a better future.

Danoe.
