AbujaFollowing the panic alarm button the Malawi Football Federation pressed recently over the insecurity of the UJ Esuene Stadium as venue for the crucial Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier encounter next month, world football governing body,(FIFA), has formally written to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), ordering it to furnish it with the full security detail concerning the venue. The Malawi Football Federation had petitioned the Zurich Headquarters of FIFA raising the alarm over the safety of the Calabar Stadium, praying that FIFA prevails on NFF to take away the World Cup qualifier encounter billed for September 6 from the Cross River State capital due to security concerns. The Chairman NFF Security Sub- committee, Chief Effiong Johnson, who spoke to Daily SunSports on the security alarm on telephone from Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State further confirmed that FIFA had on Monday, written to the federation directing it to furnish it with the details of the security concern raised by the Malawian soccer governing body. “Let me first confirm to you that the federation formally received the correspondence from FIFA on the security alarm, the Malawi soccer federation raised concerning their safety at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar. The federation will certainly reply the letter from FIFA and furnish them with the full details of the security at that stadium. “I was surprised and shocked with such security alarm. I want to think that it was mere mischief, antics and distractions from the Malawians.” Meanwhile, four players of Malawi have been decamped for harbouring women in their hotel rooms during camping for the crucial World Cup match against Nigeria. According to a Malawi newspaper monitored online, the players, while playing in the regional COSAFA Cup competition in Zambia sneaked women into their rooms. The names of the players were not disclosed. The newspaper reported that their Belgian Coach, Tom Saintfiet was amused with the conduct of the players and recommended their suspension and also imposed fines. However, one of the culprits, who is a foreign based professional was included in the squad that was expected to face Rwanda today in a friendly match in Kigali. The President of Football Association of Malawi (FAM), Walter Nyamilandu, reportedly said the said player was among those given the benefit of doubt “depending on how they reacted.” http://sunnewsonline.com/new/sports/fifa-writes-nff-over-calabar-stadium/ |

Why are these malawians panicking over the security in the stadium? So far there have been kidnapping cases of foreigners in nigeria don't mean we don't know there won't be financial benefit attached kidnapping a malawian. Kidnappers don't kidnap somalians, sudanese, malawians . . . 1 Like |
