If we fail to honour (the bible says our father and mother) the elderly (when we too become elderly,) we shouldn't expect to live long.
Culled from 'grey and strong' magazine.
Elderly care in nigeria is the worst in the world and a huge display of our hypocritical nature of claiming a culture that reverences elders yet not matching any of that with realactions towards the protection and care for the elderly. From the taxi driver that shouts at the elderly man to 'comot for road', to thepoliceman who doesn't brother to protect them when in public places, the governmentwho has passed no single legistration towards elderly care and protection as well as the countless number of families that now dump their retired parents in the villages totally uncared for with visits occuring once a year, the level of hypocricy Nigeria as a nation displays when it comes to elderly people is disheartening to say the least.
Unlike their Nigerian counterparts, elderly people in the UK, America, Canada and manyother countries have a much different story. They have special seats on public transportation reserved for them, they have designated portions of every public infrastructure, the public is reminded to be cautious of them with signs everywhere, thepolice walk them past busy roads, they recieve social financial support apart from their pentions for their upkeep. They enjoy many healthcare programs to keep them alive and healthy at no cost to them. They are taken on trips, enjoy recreation, attend organised programs...yet these countries don't brag about how much they bow or fall on the ground in greeting.

We are not there yet. . . BECAUSE THE ELDERS ARE REAPING WHAT THEY SOWED!
Civilized countries ensure that the correct mechaniisms are in place to take care of the elderly. . .
In Nigeria, what do they do when they are in public office?
KILL AND STEAL ONLY!
You reap what you sow. . . SIMPLE! kiss
