my fiend who is on currently on fertility treatment wants to boost her chances of concieving twins so she visited over the weekend and in the process of gaining more information on this online, we came to the following findings:

the yoruba tribe has the highest incidence of multiple births in the whole world which they attribute to the consumption of a particular specie of wild yam. even so that the wife of Ekiti state governor tried to alleviate and educate rural women on the effects of consuming this yam and having multiple births ( like mother and infant mobidity ) I reckon Ekiti has the highest percentage of all other states.

in lieu of this, pls I would like to know the local name of this super yam and how its prepared for optimum potency.

the name of dish or delicacy that contains it.

and lastly duration of consumption before conception . or is it too late for her given that she has not been eating it from childhood?

we are not trying to play, God but use what he has given usin abundance, to our benefit.

Alright.. My mum had twins but she never put herself on any special diet. If she is so desperate for twins, why not see a gyneacologist for a professional advice

it could be that the wild yam is a main staple of your mums diet or other hereditiary factors in place.
i believe a fertility specialist is more knowledgable than a gyn/obst in conception matters.

I did not state that shes desperate but rather trying to gain more knowledge on something of interest to her.

If it is IVF she is doing, she can tell her doctor how many he should implant (it will lead to multiple births). As for the yam thingy, i do not know.

CC , yam is only for fraternal twins, which in my dictionary are no twins..lol
Identical twins conception is purely by chance.
Well, maybe prayers and fasting would do the the trick.
In case anyone comes up with something that would guarantee twins (identical o )conception. .pls let me know

Igbo-Ora in Oyo State has the highest number of twins in the world. Every family has a twins. Preliminary finding reveals that, the conception is due to their diet, which is mostly Okro & white Yam.

Dearest, if u want to give birth to a twins also, u may give the diet a shot.

For some pple that want it badly,they need to relocate to igbo ora since the magic is there!
All other yams r adultrtd ones.
If no be igbo ora yam,it can never be like igbo ora yam.

On a serious note, I heard about the yam too, I even read it in one health magazine sometimes ago, but unfortunately, I don't know the specie of the yam.

I will have to make some enquiries from someone who is from igbo-ora.

some foods contains high levels of certain nutrients like ugu boosts blood count, ewedu has high levels of folic acid, okro treats common cold etc.....
this yam contains fertility enhancing nutrients and so makes a woman produce more eggs during ovulation and when these eggs are fertilized results in twins ( mostly fraternal though).

Go to Igbo-Ora. They dont have the highest occurrence of twins in the world for no reason. It may be partly genetics but has been linked to their diet.
