DOLPHINS 1-2 SHARKS
The Blue Angels have garnered 10points from possible 12 out of their last four matches to march to 12th on the table with 33 points from 25 matches as against the relegation zone the club had flirted all season.
Sharks started the revival since the start of the second stanza and it had resulted in three victories over Kaduna United, Gombe United and Dolphins and a draw against Kwara United in Ilorin.
The Gbenga Ogunbote led side defeated Dolphins at the Liberation Stadium Wednesday to move to comfortable spot on the league table.
Isiaka Olawale shot Dolphins in thelead from the spot before two goals through Sharks' Jonah Abutu and Christian Pyagbara putthe Blue Angels in the ascendancy.
Sharks have 33 points from 25 games to place 12th while Dolphins in spite of the loss are ninth with 36 points from same ties. Sharks will step even higher with a home win over Lobi Stars on Sunday while Dolphins visit Owerri as guests of Heartland thisweekend. The game is the last home tie the Naze Millionaires will play under closed doors after theleague's body ordered the club toplay three games without their fans because of the alleged unruly behaviour of the home fans after the defeat to Enyimba at Owerri.
BAYELSA UNITED 4-1 AKWA UNITED
Bayelsa United have gone goal berserk in the last two home games having scored seven goals and conceding only one in victories over El Kanemi Warriors and Akwa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
Goals from Jafar Buhari who notched two goals and one each from Gindo Abdoulaye and Uche Ihuarulam handed important threepoints to coach Ladan Bosso led lads. Mfon Udoh's solitary strike for the Uyo side only served as a consolation.
Bayelsa United are second with 42points from 25 matches. They have same points as first place Kano Pillars but with inferior goalsdifference. The Kano side howeverhave a game at hand having only played 24 ties.
Akwa United on the other hand have slipped to 13th with 33 points from as many games.
The Yenagoa side will visit Ibadan to face wounded 3SC on Sunday while Akwa United battle El KanemiWarriors in Uyo too. They are both matchday 26 ties.
WIKKI TOURISTS 2-1 3SC
The Bauchi side nicked a precious home win that was etched with controversies after the Oluyole Warriors alleged that the centre referee, Garuba Hamsa from KanoState overruled a legitimate goal scored by 3SC's Ighodaro Osagonain the 90th minute to deny the club a valuable point against WikkiTourists. The goal had come off a free kick taken by Femi Oladapo just outside the box.
Solomon Jabason and Alaba Sakin had put Wikki two goals up inside the opening eighth minutes but Taofik Adepoju pulled a goal back in the 43rd minute for 3SC to ensure a nail-biting end to the league tie. The Ibadan side also alleged that the game was watched by appreciable fans despite the behind closed doors order from the league's body..Wikki are 14th with 32 points from 25 matches while 3SC are 19th with 30 points from same number of games. Wikki will go to Ilorin to face ABS while 3SC will play host to Bayelsa United in Ibadan.
KANO PILLARS 3-0 ABS
ABS were shorn of their seven regular players prior to the trip to Kano and they deservedly lost 0-3 to the league's reigning champions.
Manir Ubale gave Pillars the lead in 17th minute, before Buhari Musa made it 2-0 in the 58th minute.
Inspirational midfielder Rabiu Ali took the game beyond their opponents with the third goal in the 83rd minute. Ali has scored eight goals in the league this season.
Pillars have 42 points from 24 games to hang on to the top of the table even with a game at hand while ABS slid down to 16th with 32 points from 25 games.
Pillars visit Akure as guests of Sunshine Stars while ABS hosts Bayelsa United. Both games are matchday 26 ties and will take place this weekend.
LOBI STARS 1-0 SUNSHINE STARS
The Makurdi side have gained important home win against the Akure Gunners in their desperate aim to escape relegation at the end of the season. The lone goal win shot them from the foot of the league table to 17th with 32 points from 25 games while the loss has further limited Sunshine'schances of a continental slot at the end of the season. They are now 11th with 34 points from 25 games.
Terkaa Melai, Lobi's goaltender was the hero of the game as he stepped out to place the ball beyond the reach of the Akure side from the penalty spot in the stoppage time of the first half after the centre referee, CharlesOzigbo from Anambra State spotted an infringement in the 18yard box.
Lobi must avoid defeat in Port Harcourt when they entertain Sharks this weekend while Sunshine must dust off their latest setback immediately ahead of a cagey affair against Pillars in Akure this weekend.
