They say a picture tells a thousand words – so what does this snap from Manchester United’s Premier League win over Swansea City on Saturday say about Wayne Rooney?

A Manchester Unitedfan (go and say well done on Twitter - @Luzhniki2008) took the fantastic snap from the away end at the Liberty Stadium asUnited recorded a 4-1 win to open their Premier League campaign in style.

United were understandably delighted to claim a third goal through Robin van Persie– apart from Rooney, it appears, who according to Sir Alex Ferguson has asked leave United and is reportedly seeking a move to Chelsea.

The photo, taken in the aftermath of Van Persie’s second goal, shows United’s players congregating near manager David Moyes on the touchline as they indulge in a mass hug.
But rather than sharing in this moment of joy with his team-mates, Rooney is pictured making a lonely walk back to the centre-circle on his own.
Rooney played an important role in the goal, as his dummy run helped to pull defenders out of position, allowing Van Persie to lash a superb effort into the top corner.

The picture will do little to end speculation that Rooney still wants to leave Old Trafford this summer having seen Chelsea fail with two attempts to sign him from United.
Reports on Sunday suggest the striker is still hopeful of moving to Stamford Bridge – while he could also consider a transfer to Arsenal if United refuse to sell to their title rivals.

What seems certain thanks to Daniel’s clever camerawork is that Rooney isn’t particularly happy at his current employers.

what is this one saying? We have been wining trophies even before rooney was born. I'm dissapointed in bbc for droping this pic because there were only 6 players celebrating after that goal. Are you telling the remaining 4 players including De Gea are also unhappy and are ready to leave the club? Rooney also realised that he won't be allowed to leave so he requested for more playing time which he will get. I want to assure that man utd won't be selling Wayne Mark Rooney to any english club at any price. GGMU!

picture is over-exaggerated...there are about 5 or 6 players in that huddle so does that mean the other 4 or 5 also want to leave? obviously rooney is not happy but the camera-man manipulated the pic by cropping out the left side to make it seem like the entire team celebrated without him. personally i'm tired of rooney but there is no way we are selling him for 25 when we bought him for that same price ten years ago! taking inflation into account plus the fact that he is in his prime years right now, we can't sell him for anything less than 40. take it or leave it... just shows that he aint as good as he thinks he is when no one is prepared to bid above 25 for him at this stage of his career
