Ghana President Mahama Was “validly Elected” -stated By The Supreme Court by ommo(m): 4:08pm On Aug 29, 2013
The Supreme Court has confirmed President John Dramani Mahama as the “validly elected” president of Ghana and winner of the 2012 presidential election.

The nine-member panel presided over by Justice William Atuguba refused to annul the over four million votes which the petitioners said were added to President John Mahama’s to make him win the 2012 elections.

The petitioners who filed the petition challenging the results of the 2012 presidential elections were seeking to have the votes annulled and have subsequently declare the presidential candidate of the 2012 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as the winner of the December 2012 elections.

Giving the ruling Justice William Atuguba said: “this is the decision we have arrived at after scrutinizing of the petition, we have found out that the issues to be determined are as set out, at page 125 the counsel for the petitioners as follows: Over voting, voting without biometric verification, through absence of the signature of the presiding officer and duplicate serial numbers. We unanimously dismiss the claims relating to duplicate serial numbers, duplicate polling station codes.”

Per the ruling, President John Dramani Mahama remains president of the country.

Three key members of the party, Chairman of the NPP Mr Obetsebi Lamptey, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia filled the petition at the Supreme Court to challenge the results of the 2012 presidential elections.

What lesson can we has Africans learn from all these processes?

I will like to state that i am pleased and happy with the way Ghanaians have carried themselves. The sense of belonging, the undeniable patriotism displayed and the spirit of unity and togetherness exhibited by the average Ghanaian for his country is unparalleled.

With this verdict, i believe Ghanaians can now come together to help build their country.

I hope Africans as a whole will also learn a thing or two from this.

I will like the MOD to move this to the front page pl. It about our west African brothers

Lesson From Other African Countries? Democracy is the way Forward, embracing views from Political opponents.
IMHO..... This electoral petition was needless, we(Ghanaians) have just wasted eight(cool months of productive service. What pertains in other African countries that defines electoral petition are based on 1.Vote Padding, 2.cancelling of Votes, 3. disqualifying political opponents from voting, 4. declaring of votes in an electoral area where voting did not take place etc!... What happened in Ghana was the 0pposite,.... 1. The petitioners sought to cancel valid votes which had been counted and declared and documented on a sheet but had not been signed by an official of the electoral commission.
2. The petitioners sought to cancel valid votes cast because a device had failed to capture fingerprints of registered voters.
3. The petitioners sought to cancel valid votes cast because the document that the votes were recorded with had duplicated/triplicate serial numbers.
Lessons to be learnt?..... African 0pposition parties should not be quick to scream Foul Play!
