I have been advised by an old time friend who is now residing in the UK to apply for UK immigrant visa through the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme. Does any one in the house has any experience about this programme? Kindly advice. |

If u're an engineer or an IT professional ,then u may consider it,ur chances are brighter than others at the moment. |

I know someone has been here in the UK on a HSMV and is doing fine. He had 10 years experience in civil service at a state level and applied from HSMV and got it with his wife and 2 kids. He didn't have a job waiting for him in the UK, he started looking for a job when he got here, and I helped him with his CV etc. The funny thing is he's not working in any specialist industry like IT or Biotech, he's working as a security guard in a department store! So don't be afraid to apply for a HSMV, just make sure you have some working experience and a degree in something. |

Go to this site http://www.workpermit.com/uk/hsmp_calculator.htm and use the points calculator to see if you qualify. To the best of my knowledge the person who scores 65 (the cut-off) has as good a chance as the one who scores 100. The most important thing is documentation. If you don't provide enough documentation to show why you qualify you won't get it, and you have to send the original of all your documents. You can also check out this message board where people discuss their experiences with the HSMP http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=6845ce745e9fea1cc1967bc3dec64e61. Once you get it though, be aware that getting a job in the UK can be a GREAT hassle, as i've heard from those on hsmp, so weigh your options carefully before you go for it. |
