Teenage kids are better off with money. Let then buy what they want or buy it online.
Relax. Even if you forget something, there will always be a petrol station or corner shop that will be open on Xmas day. Don’t worry.

As for clothes sales, I learnt my lesson a long time ago and I don’t bother. One only ends seeing/buying orange trousers, purple shoes and sunshine yellow tops that will spend years in the wardrobe cos there is nothing that matches it. They only bring out things that no one else wanted to buy during the year Grrrrr

I guess the "issue" is the temptation to want everything to be just perfect. I usually am more laid back (I think!) with normal day-to-day stuff and step back for the rest of the family to do their bit, but with the Christmas season being a special one, it's a little bit hard to let go. Take cooking for example, I know precisely what I'll be cooking for those 3 days (24th, 25th and 26th) so every single spice, food item, drink, dessert, appetizer, and so on must be in place and in the right quantities. Crazy as it sounds, I do get a buzz from shopping too even though I almost had to climb atop my deep freezer today, just to make sure it shut properly after buying a bit more in there. I'm starting to wonder if I even know what's at the bottom sef.

Lol! You got me with the line about smart phones! I've been told that seeing as I only use 5% of it's features, why bother getting one? Even then, it's always on silent mode, so callers do get frustrated. Hubby says the only way to get me is to either call one of the boys' phones or the landline! And yep, you are right about delegating too...maybe next Christmas

It's funny you mention the corner shop because 2 days ago, I did see the sign stating that there would be "limited" service on Christmas day - 8:30 a.m to 7:30 p.m! Makes you wonder what "normal" service is then. As per clothes on sale, now that's never tempted me o! The day I want to buy them is the day I want to buy them, just like that. Lol @ your colour combination descriptions!

I'll be baking some meatpies with minced beef boiled with salt and onions, drained and then fried with curry & thyme & maggi. I'll add some pre-steamed and chopped Irish potatoes and carrots to the mix. I find this a much better alternative to minced pies but I did get some Kipling's brand for those that like them though.

As Africans We are not oyibo who have a fixed number of people who come to the table at 1pm, and our people just come in and out all day long and sometimes bringing their own guests, so sometimes its hard to judge how much food one needs. My hubby is still inviting people up until now. It is well.
