The Exquisite Magazine against Cancer Walk

Fashion Party) is an event which has been held quarterly since 2006 to increase the awareness for cervical, breast and prostate cancer and also screen people for free. The faces of the EMAC 2013 are Tewa Onasanya, Kaylah Oniwo, Uti Nwachukwu, Karen Igho, Lynxxx and Titi Oyinsan. Yearly, the Exquisite Magazine team has been able to screen a number of people free of charge at the exquisite fashion party. Instead of a party, the Exquisite Magazine Against Cancer walk has been created with the aim of screening even more people. In the last 2 years, 25% of the people screened had early stages of cervical cancer and the team aims to help raise more awareness for cancer and highlight the importance of early detection. The aim is to continue to increase the awareness for; Cervical cancer (the only cancer with a pre cancerous stage) which kills one woman every hour in Nigeria Breast cancer.

How to Write a Winning Business Plan Seminar

YouWin business plan competition is a government initiative created to empower youths between the ages of 21- 40 years; to start and grow their own businesses, hence becoming employers of labour. The speaker was one of the 1,200 shortlisted finalist from over 66,000 applicants and became a young millionaire at 27, after submitting a winning business plan through the YouWin business plan competition, Henrietta Omwuegbzie.

Date For A Cause

The proceeds go to Slums2Schools, a non-profit initiative aimed at improving access to education for children who live in hard-to-reach slums aross Nigeria. The Annual Banking & Finance Conference 2013

The Chartered Institute of Bankers Of Nigeria (CIBN) is set to host entrepreneurs, corporate chieftains and government functionaries in Abuja for the 7th edition of its Annual Banking & Finance Conference.

The African Leadership Academy International Youth Day Essay Competition

African Leadership Academy is calling on all young Africans between the ages of 15-19 to participate in a month-long essay writing competition on the topic: “How can governments, businesses, non-profits, individuals and the youth collaborate to maximize Africa’s youth potential for the continent’s development and prosperity?”.

The competition is open to young Africans aged 15 – 19 residing within and outside Africa. The deadline is September 12, 2013. Essays should be submitted through http://www.formstack.com/forms/?1541865-ShkQdFu1c2 and an email should be sent to iyd(at)africanleadershipacademy(dot)org

Essays should focus on SPECIFIC practicable, implementable, measurable and scalable ideas that can be implemented effectively across the continent.
Entries can be written in English, French or Portuguese languages and they must not exceed 1000 words. Each entry should contain no more than 5 concrete ideas fitting the above criteria. Submitted entries must be the original work of the writer and should not have been published  on any media prior to submission.
Each entry will be judged not only for the quality of ideas but for the quality of writing.

Prizes to be won include:

Grand prize: Full scholarship worth US$4200 to attend the Global Scholars Program (GSP) – a unique international three-week entrepreneurial leadership summer camp) in July 2014 at the ALA campus in Johannesburg, South Africa. Also included will be an air ticket to South Africa and a winner’s plaque.

Ist Runner-Up: Full scholarship worth US$4200 to attend the 2014 Global Scholars Program (a unique international three-week entrepreneurial leadership summer camp) at ALA, and a plaque.

2nd Runner-up: 50% scholarship worth US$2100 to attend the 2014 Global Scholars Program (a unique three-week entrepreneurial leadership summer camp) at ALA, and a plaque.
