The Decision Of The Abia State Government To Relocate The Umuahia Main Market. by franklinjoseph(m): 9:22am On Sep 19, 2013
For a while now, there has been a buzz in and around the city of Umuahia which is the capital of Abia state as to the decision of the Abia state government to relocate the Umuahia main market, which is at a conducive location at the centre of the town to an underdeveloped location on the outskirts of Umuahia. The inhabitants of the town have cried out about this decision as it poses a number of problems as listed below;
1. Development of the area; the area is still remote and under developed as people don't even live around that area.
2. Security; since its still a rural area the security of the goods and wares at the market cannot be assured and the new market is not even fenced.
3. Transportation; the new market is not at a conducive location and transportation will pose a very big problem to the traders.
4. Infrastructure; this is a shameful part of the post because there's not enough buildings to even accomodate the occupants.
The traders have been given till the end of September 2013 to relocate.
