All Wheel Drive Or 4wheel Drive Vehicle For A Frequent Long Distance Traveller? by shootsight(m): 10:59am On Sep 26, 2013
Morning nairalanders ...
I want †̥σ solicit opinions as regards which vehicle type is suitable for a frequent long distance traveller.
№ω if u ask mε I'∂ say an awd(all wheel drive)vehicle comes in very handy for Τђε occasional ditch/gully one would need †̥σ navigate out of while travelling.
A 4wd on Τђε other hand is a dedicated vehicle that tackles offroad conditions with aplomb and is equally at home on normal paVed roads.

№ω i am basing my assumption on the fact that most 4wd's (four wheel drive) vehicles trade off ride comfort due †̥σ suspension travel and higher ride height in order †̥σ accomodate a low range transfer case. Since the 4wd will only be called upon a few seconds or minutes at best,Then i believe an awd will serve very well .
Awd's I believe function intermittently when wheel slippage is detected and as soon as its corrected it reverts †̥σ Τђε power sharing status quo which could be 5:95. i.e 5% power †̥σ front wheels and 95% †̥σ the rear driven wheels.
So I think an AWD would be my best bet. After all people with normal sedans or minivans successfully navigate bad stretches or portions of our highways without issues
Let's keep it rolling!
