This Pastor has Guts!!

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It
seems prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:


"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and call it Pluralism. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of ex - pression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!"

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest..

In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we
again can be called "one nation under God."

If possible, please pass this prayer on to your friends. "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for everything."

Think about this: If you forward this prayer to everyone on your e-mail list, in less than 30 days it
would be heard by the world.

Clearly the separation of church and state means nothing.

Forwarding the prayer is not the most important thing, but how many of our so called pastors in Naija can do that to OBJ and the other rulers.

Many of our pastors are OBJ's and the politician's friends.

We need many more pastors with such holy guts. It's easy to 'act' the pastor before ordinary folks; but the substance of a minister's calling is tested in the arena that matter in shaping our culture and society at large.

u r right! I also think it is a general problem too when we are scared of talking about christ or praying with our friends.

I pray we begin to exude such holy confidence and reach out to the world without fear or favor.

I amazing prayer. I've heard it before

We all have guts but we express them based on our conviction that, at the time we are expressing it, it would have maximum effect, o sorry!!!
I wanted to start differently, like this if this Pastor has guts, he does not have 2 heads, BUT, 1 QUESTION FOR ALL, am I ready to risk my head, I hate witch-hunting, we all know who is suppose to do what, but we do not bother to start it from ourselves,it is so easy to point fingers but one thing is sure, we are all a part of this world's problem no matter what you thing.
This is my piece of advice:brighten the corner where you are and in no time the effect of our lights will surely be BETTER than the light provided by PHCN( you see so easy to point fingers). TAKE CHARGE!!! PROVIDE SOLUTIONS OR BE A PART OF SOLUTION TO OUR WORLD'S PROBLEM, these are the choice that you have because you have the mind of,
No risk, NO GAIN.

What was so great about this prayer? What was so gutsy? The man was just expressing his opinion at the state Senate. Lots of people have expressed their opinions under more dangerous situations. And I'm very sure many people would do more than this if given half the chance. Or is it considered gutsy because he is a preacher?

The fact that this man thinks welfare is reward for laziness to me shows a lot about his mindset but then he is a "minister of God". Also, ambition should be considered a bad thing?

"Absolute truth of your words" - really That the earth was created in 6 days, or that god destroyed the earth with a flood?? What truth.
Is pluralism such a bad thing?? Probably is to pastors and clergymen because it prevents them from wielding absolute power over the rest of us.
It is quite clear that the man has no empathy with those who are less fortunate than him. What is wrong with welfare??
As to exploiting the poor, maybe he should look at himself and people like him.
What are the time honoured values of his forefathers?? Bigotry, Slave owning, hypocrisy and so on.
I am not surprised that a pastor finds the freedom of expression scary. People are questioning his particular superstition, and he does not like that.

The man is a bigoted, moronic idi.ot who believes that calling himself a pastor gives him the right to shoot his mouth off.
