Update on ASUU Strike is that FG has stopped striking lecturers’ salary – The Federal Government has invoked the ‘no work, no pay’ labour rule against striking university lecturers as their industrial action enters the 93rd day with no end in sight.

Some of the federal university vice chancellors have not paid the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) members their August and September salaries in compliance with the government’s directive.

Some branch chairmen of ASUU see the government and vice chancellor’s move as an attempt to break the rank of their members, insisting that their members are resolute on the ongoing strike.

Some ASUU branch chairmen told Daily Sun that text messages were sent to vice chancellors to apply the ‘no work, no pay’ labour rules to academic staff on strike and that the decision had affected the payment of salary of  non-academic  staff in the university system.

According to one of the branch chairmen, he and his exco confronted their university management over the salary delay and the he showed them the text message asking them not to pay salary to ASUU members.

He stressed that the ‘no work, no pay’ labour rule had never worked, pointing out that ASUU has a counter-measure, which was ‘no pay, no work,’ and  that the union was not on strike because of salary increment.
Sources stated that at the ASUU Ibadan zonal meeting held at the University of Lagos, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Rahmon Bello, tried in vain to defend the delay of September salary.

Also, the ASUU chairman, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Dr. Biodun Badmus, told Daily Sun that the vice chancellor got text messages not to pay salaries and revealed that the university had not received August salary from government.
His words:  “Any vice chancellor that has paid August salary did so using the university’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). We are not bothered about the salary issue, because at the end of the day, they will still pay us.”

Meanwhile, the union has faulted the conduct  of Post-UTME examination by the universities during the strike without the involvement of academic staff and urged the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to intervene on the issue.

The lecturers should use the strike period wisely. They can go into farming or petty trading and see if they can make 20,000 naira profit monthly.

lazy lots who wants 3 trillion naira

[size=20pt][b]Thank God!!!

How can they be gaining while holding the nation to ransom and toying with the lives of the students entrusted to them?

How can they mindlessly refuse every appeal to work and get more that have been offered already N130Billion Naira

....and they simply said "NO !" .... afterall, they are getting their salaries while the lives of the students waste away.
If only university lecturers want N3 trillion, then how much is the entire country's budget? Is it only university lecturers that is important to a country? Where will the money to pay soldiers dying to stop Boko Haram from killing those lecturers,Doctors,Civil servants and most importantly development of the country and even those universities come from? If every dime in Nigeria should be paid to lecturers? Greedy B.asterds!

Let them now prolong the strike for another 6 months and lets see who will beg the FG first! Wicked lecturers !

Nigerians love to abuse democracy believing "democracy" is a freedom to unleash chaos on the nation and trample on other peoples rights while fighting for yours. If the Universities are closed, where do they expect the money to be paying their salaries to be coming from? If a company making bread goes on strike and stops selling, where will the money to pay them while on strike come from? Bank loans?

Therefore, the National Assembly must stem this rot in our system by legislating that no Federal Government employees shall be paid during the period they have not worked or on strike

Since every state now has a federal university, It is also time for the FG to hand over all the federal institutions to their host states and increase allocation to the states.

Same fo ols that will collect money to pass students, same fo ols that would never support students when they wanna protest,
Same fo ols that harass our female students.

I wonder why any sensible student should support them.

Toktee: Retar.d,people like you deserved to be locked away in the zoo.

You need to sue your mum for giving birth to you instead of getting an abortion. She should have saved you the agony of moving around with cotton wool in your scull in place of a brain.

You know their are other options to end your miserable life, you can take rat poison to end your misery instead of insulting people online.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. I think that is the best thing to do. Tony Nzenna says:- No pay No gain. No work no payment and i think this should be embeded in our Constitution. GBAM!!

It might get to a point, after all the resources of the lecturers have been depleted due to witholding their salaries that they'll cave in but they won't even have students to teach anymore.
