Is there an expiration date on dreams?
Past due time, delinquent
Or can we cling to them
For as long as it would seem possible?
Or wiser to bury them
Plant new seeds beside them
And just hope that something grows
out of the muddy ash of uncertainties
of what might have been.

A tormented thing
A mind negotiating contingencies
Alternate realities
She will drive you stone cold crazy
A million and one possibilities of what could have been
To think is hazardous
far better with no options
than a taunting sky you might never reach on
and silence with a sweep of diverse accomplishments

I’m unaccomplished, men
I boast no trophies
no feathers to wave at the gallery of great giants
as proof of my relevance in a vast universe
Where too often it feels meaningless
but still I dream, in color, in motion
To the tune of a music not yet written
That perhaps fate might take notice
I have the patience of a hundred virtues and one.

One door to swing wide open
And "hello purpose"
"Nice to finally make your acquaintance".
But until then
Make that a hundred and two virtues.
