Please my dear Nairalanders before I commit the blunder that I may latter regret. I want your help and technical advise. In a couple of weeks I want to buy my first ever car. Meanwhile all along my intrest have always go to camry 2001 but any time I see Honda accord 2001/2002 (Baby Boy) I got confused. Now I want to choose which one should buy? Camry or Honda, if Camry why and if Honda why not Camry. Please, JENJU, VIPERMAN, SIENA, NKC,INSPIRED_M and all other GURUS in the house contributions' will go along way in helping me outof my predicament. Waiting anxiously for your candid responses.

I will advise you go with the camry 2001. More durable, and has a better "second hand" value.

just like trying 2 chooose btw the 2003 camry n the 2003/04 accord, or even the 07 camry n the 08 accord, [me go take the 08 accord oh!!]both are equisite machines!!

coming 2 ur case, this issue has been treated lots of times on nairaland, n toyota always takes the cake!!,

the honda is relatively finer, i wont argue abt that, but the camry just exudes rugged stability n strenght!!,
dude if i were in ur shoes, i did go 4 the camry, an LE MODEL, or if u are forturnate a ARARE xle MODEL,

d camry beats d honda hands down, when it comes to d 2001 edition, camry is cheaper to maintain than honda, yes honda is more appealing to the eye, but camry is very matured in stance, for d deep thinkers, i would go with a 2001 camry any day than a 2001 honda, u feel more respected in a toyota camry 2001 than 2001 babyboy.

i guess d honda beauty is affecting yur judgement, say no to the , cast and bind,

i meant a rare xle model.

cos of price most naija car dealers dont bring the xle 2001 camry model,
cos its a lot more expensive than the ce n le,
thats why its rare in the country,

even the 200 to 2006 camry, in naija the xle is not 2 common, its only in the 2008 that i see more xles around

nb, xle is extra luxury edition, it includes the full works, leather, etc, it embodies .the whole naija full option terminology

my brother go with your heart. i had these same similar issue but eventually bought a full option babyboy dats my choice its all about choice. those two cars are both rivals and of the same class. dont let nobody confuse you. i bought the babyboy because its sleaker and has more gadgets than the camry. maybe am a honda fan but like i said its all about choice my brother. so take your time and decide well they are both very good cars. goodluck

Baby boy is top of the range in that year bracket, over and above all the camry's and corolla's. To understand what am telling u, just take a trip to any of the car dealers where u can have both cars present, slip ur self behind the wheel of both cars, and feel the diff for yourself.
What I call baby boy is COMFORT. it has no rivalry, man. You need to enjoy ur first success? Baby boy is it. that Camry is pure water, period.

I think your words of fact has open my eyes more wider to actually follow my heart. Toyota does not only take the cake but also take the LEAD. Thank u once again. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. For me, camry is more beautiful especially, the rear (many people say it is bland but I hold a different view). But in performance, accord is better - equiped with a 2.3L 150hp engine (except the DX trim), better brakes, more generous passenger space (hard to believe?), better lit dashboard diplays, more efficient climatic control, automatic speed adjustment wiper (though not a plus for me), some controls on the steering wheel (cruise), better handling on rough roads though the camry's macpherson's absorbers do excellent job too.

Both come with good sound system Cassette/FM/AM/CD. Camry has a lower turning radius, bigger fuel tank, ASB (Please note that I am comparing camry LE and accord LX trims). The 2.2L 136hp engine camry is fitted with may tend to be sluggish sometimes.

I am inclined to say that accord has better fuel economy because it deliveres the same mileage with camry despite having a higher engine. The accord comes with 5speed manual as a standard while camry comes with a 4speed auto as a standard.

For me, 2000 camry has a more domineering appearance than the accord. If these two cars should swap bodies, I will take the accord!

Hey. Its just a nigerian general mentality about toyota. Not mindin d fact d@ honda maker came out of toyota, d@ baby boy is better than d camry. The interior is so much different. Toyotas are 2 consevative when it comes 2 uphostery.annoyin chairs.babyboy is sleeker.better shocks.fun to drive.better balance.(altho if ur gear should spoil.it cld b xpnsve).camry has more airbags tho.

Babyboy has gearbox problems. Since my husband had a babyboy n spent crazy money on the gearbox, I can't advice my worst enemy 2 get it.

I don't know much about d Camry so its ur choice.

GOOD THINKING, GOOD PRODUCT. TOYOTA takes the lead. I sold my Second Camry with a reasonable price after using it for 2yrs and never had any problem with it. I still see my First Toyota Corolla till date still in good shape which is unlikely for any Honda Product. Can Vindylomo let Nairalanders know what he got for himself and the challenges so far.

almost all Toyota recent version faces recall and heavy fine not to mention.

Now forget the V6 engine on 2.3 4 cylinder 16 valves v-tech engine the only complain u could get on 1998-2002 is its road noise, its head lamp not letting to see enough, some funny noise when breaks are depressed !!! hhha funny eh imagine naija complaining about its roads noise which is more visible in Honda halla as yall know
