The word RAPTURE is of Latin origin meaning "caught up" and is used to describe the event in the following Bible passages,
1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

The Bible teaches that the rapture will be followed by years of awful torment and intense agony upon the entire world.Beliefs that the rapture will take place during the time of this tribulation or after it are unbiblical.Paul the Apostle-after assuring the believers of the rapture in the above passages-goes next to the subject of the tribulation.It is the plan of God to always deliver his children from times of destruction.Noah was delivered from the devastating flood and Lot was rescued from the holocaust of Sodom (2 Peter 2:6-9) The saints would not be on earth during the great tribulation.

The rapture is literal.The law of gravity will be defied. The unconventional will happen.Dead saints regardless of how they died or for how long they have died will come alive.They,with prepared and waiting saints who are yet alive,will rise unaided to meet Christ in the air as much as iron is levitated by a magnet.This will take place in just a moment.But such occurence is not completely novel.As precursors,in Scriptures,there are instances of such occurences.Enoch was directly taken by God without death(Genesis5:22-24).Elijah was caught up suddenly while yet alive to be with God(2Kings2:11,12).The Lord Jesus Himself literally ascended against natural law right before His disciples(Acts1:9-11).

The rapture is certain though the timing is uncertain(Matthew 24:42,44).It will occur by surprise to everyone including the partakers of the event while life continues as usual.It shall be sudden.The true believers will vanish out of sight at various places leaving others dismayed and bewildered.

That's the more reason why we need to be prepared for eternity-whether by death or the rapture- we need to see the Lord.

(Matthew24:40-42)
Though it is not given to us to know the actual time of the event,we are sure it is imminent(Revelation20:22).While the faithful believers are in for delight at the rapture,sinners and even cold,careless,compromising,crossevading,carnal,contentious contemporary"Christians"who lack Christ-likeness wallow in the danger of being left behind at the time(Matthew24:48-50).

Sinners must repent and exercise faith in Jesus and His meritorious work on the cross. Backsliders must turn again to Christ. Lukewarm Christians should earnestly cry out to God for re-awakening. Expectant saints must live transparent holy lives,walk consistently in the light of the truth,watch daily and pray always that they may be ready and accounted worthy when Christ returns.Also, believers must also maintain faithfulness in God's service to receive His commendation.

In summary,we are to examine where we stand and act appropriately for Christ will only receive blameless and faithful saints at the rapture.
