davidmascot: I love nigerians we know how to console ourselves. I see your writeup as an excuse for failure, but let me tell you, don't let anything hinder you from becoming your dream. Try again later.
*sigh*Thank you very much for the encouragement but I think you misunderstood me. I'm an ex-predite, and a proud to-be student of Great Ife, chemical engineering is the course.
The point I was trying to make wasn't to discourage anyone or cause regrets but I'm stating a truth that would have helped many if they had known.Too many are under the delusion that they would just finish from OAU, walk into a firm and get employed, hence many have forsaken many opportunities from other good schools . It's really nothing but childish sentiment.

dejii01:
I won't lie to you oh, school is a very determinant factor in the labor market, trust me. For example, I have a relative who was seeking for a job in a federal polytechnic, he did his OND in the fed poly ado ekiti and HND at crown polytechnic. He was offered a job but they cut his salary grade to that of an OND holder. Why? Because they said they don't recognize crown poly. This is a poly accredited by the federal government.
I cannot deny the fact that you know what you're talking about, there is that discrimination of Polytechnic graduates by firms but I wasn't talking about that at all, I was talking about universities.
Let's approach this with an unbiased mind and reason for the sake of truth alone, I can bet that I love and respect OAU as much as you do but the fact remains that at the time of employment, the university you attended is not much of a determining factor.
If you walk into a commercial bank today, they have a higher number of graduates from private universities. You might argue that government ministries feel more comfortable working with students from Govt schools and it's true to a level but the key factor here is who you know and how much of a "coded" person you're.
Am I now saying that schooling in arguably one of the best schools in Nigeria is a waste? No!There are very big advantages. I wrote this long reply just to make everyone that sees this to actually stop falling for childish sentiment about schooling here and not schooling there. What matters most is God's grace and hard work.OAU doesn't guarantee automatic employment, I know "freakishly" intelligent people from OAU suffering from unemployment and under-employment.I also know of students from state schools working at Chevron.

Anyhow e go be sha!!!!OAU still remains the greatest!!!
ALUTA CONTINUA,VICTORIA ASCERTA!!! grin grin

Hahahaha! I get your point bro. Employment nowadays is more about what you can bring in, inventions and innovations.
