As part of the Federal Government Refoms,Innovation Enterprise institutions like SNIIT have the mandate of the Federal Government to be readily responsive to the demands of the economy and serve as catalysts in the achievement of the Nigerian 2020 vision of becoming one of the twenty largest economies in the world.

They provide a route to higher education for competency based-skills in technological or professional education and training to equip the youth as well as working adults skills and knowledge to meet the increasing demand for skilled manpower in the various sectors of the nation's economy.

This private sector-driven initiative will bring on board training providers with relevant labour market expertise, resources and diversity of views and experiences needed for skills development.
Set up as a propeller for the nation’s technological development, (SNIIT), in spite of its name is non-regional and is open to all Nigerians.

OBJECTIVES

In line with the Federal Ministry of Education objectives as expressed by the National Board of Technical Education, the SOUTHERN NIGERIA INSTITUTE OF INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY (SNIIT) will continue to fulfil the following mandates:

Increase access to education at Post Secondary levels and thus address the 'JAMB bottleneck' by increasing options and absorbing more youth into Higher Education (HE), who may have otherwise been unable to secure admissions.
Be principally private sector driven, and readily responsive to labour market demands.
Provide the necessary link between education, science, technology, innovation and the labour market.
Use 21st Century technology to deliver up-to-date curricula and skills relevant to the needs of employers in the labour market.
Seek to develop learners' capacity to think creatively, critically and transform knowledge and skills into wealth and a broader economic base.
Train and ensure that students understand how their expertise fits into a framework for improving the society and fulfilling national goals.
Economically empower the individual and community through poverty alleviation programmes by increasing employability.
Provide job opportunities through established linkages to industries and recruitment agencies

TRAINING FACILITIES:

Workshops, equipment and tools, Audio visual facilities, Computer Laboratories, Drawing studios, adequate classrooms, lecture halls, E-libraries, book libraries etc are provided for effective learning and training.

ACCOMMODATION:

The school has a 200-bed hostel capacity which is grossly inadequate for our teeming number of students. Accommodation is therefore on a first-come-first-served-basis. This problem will soon be solved as private investors are already showing interest in this business opportunity. There are however private rooms to let within our host and adjourning communities of Ifewara, Ife, Iwara and Ilesa.

SPORTING ACTIVITIES

Sports are encouraged. Football, table tennis, lawn tennis and basket ball facilities are on campus. Competitions with other tertiary institutions are also ensured.
