The Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2013 has commenced, and it is sure to be the biggest event in Nigeria this year. My humble self and a couple of others were there to cover some of the highlights of Day 1, and will be continuously posting photos and details as they unfold throughout the event.

If you're in Lagos, find at least one day to make it to OceanView Restaurant, beside Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, where the event is taking place. If you live or work in Victoria Island, Ikoyi, or Lekki, you've got no excuse to miss out on this.

The exhibition is by various designers in Nigeria and nearby countries, and attendance is absolutely FREE. The runway shows, which are the main spectacle are N5,000 for each day. For those who have never been to a world class fashion show before, you shouldn't miss this. For the people outside Lagos, enjoy the photos.

For me, the most impressive works on the runway on Day 1 were by Ella & Gabby, Weiz Dhurm Franklin, Alter Ego, Kola Kuddus, Wana Sambo, Kinabuti. All mind-blowing.

hmm! Did u say attendance is FREE? I've always loved glamorous events but rarely remembers to attend except movie premieres. When is it ending let me know whether I will give it a shot on sunday?

I'm looking forward to designs from Frank Oshodi, Ouch, Mai Atafo and Dakova. And this girl that designed P-square Jacket for Alingo and Denrele's crazy outfits! I think her name is buttons couture or so! Nigerian Fashion industry is really impressive!
