Two Planes Collide At Lagos Airport by LMAyedun(m): 11:34pm On Oct 25, 2013 |
There was a minor accident Friday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos involving a Turkish Airline aircraft and a Max Air plane. The Turkish Airline plane wings collided with that of Max Air plane which had brought in Pilgrims from Saudi Arabia. Airport sources said the Turkish Airplane had landed safely but was taxing to stop at the apron, when its wing collided with that of Max Air. The collision resulted in minor damages to both airplanes and they have been taken away for repairs. When contacted , Mr. Fan Ndubuoke, spokesman for Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed the incident. He however said damages to the aircraft belonging to both airlines are minor and that both planes have been taken away for repairs. It will be recalled that there was a similar incident last year in Jos, Plateau State when an Arik plane wings brushed an Airforce jet parked at the apron when the plane was taxing to stop . There was no casualty in the incident but only damages to both planes. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/10/turkish-air-max-air-planes-collide-lagos-airport/ 1 Like

yunglykmine: Thank heavens for another averted "Act of God" - Madam Stella. what do you understand by AVERTED Mr KNOW IT ALL, what was about to happen that you are thanking God for. A plane was simply taxing and one of its wings brushed against another parked plane and you are here Yelling **Thank heavens for another averted ** or do you think when they said the plane was taxing, it was in the air. Such situation, there's no need to raise an eyebrow like ya doing cos No casualty can occur. If you've ever been to an airport, you will understand what I mean because when a plane is taxing to park, it moves very slow. 1 Like |

sademola: This isn't much of concern. It's a mere taxing error "Taxing error" my foot! Is that how they "taxi-error" in other places? Planes taxi to "take-off and to stop/park" so no one could tell us here that it was moving very slowly. It does not excuse such failures on the part of those who should ensure such dont happen. We are talking about "impact" by two planes, here! What about possible structural damage, aside the obvious and seemingly cosmetic damages that could have occured? Why cant we learn to do things properly in this country? Why dont we value life at all? Do you bash your "new" vehicle and then take it for repairs and say "dont worry, its okay, nothing happened"? Ist this sort of silly thinking/mentality that got our leaders treating us like shyte, when it appears some of us (like you), dont value our lives. Next time it will be its just the engine that fell-out mid-air but since nobody died, its OKAY AND FINE! We got it coming. Lastpage! 9 Likes |
