Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has revealed that England-based forward Victor Anichebe will be considered to battle for a place in his squad ahead of the the Fifa 2014 World Cup Brazil.

The West Bromwich Albion striker had earlier revealed that he would prefer to put his club career ahead of country after recovering from a long injury lay-off he copped during the build up to the South Africa 2010 Fifa World Cup.

Even at this, the Super Eagles coach insists that the West Bromwich Albion player has a chance to represent Nigeria in Brazil if he shows the enthusiasm to play for the country again.

“It was Anichebe who chose not to play for Nigeria at a point in time, so if he decides he is ready to play, why not?,” Keshi told Complete Sports.

“If he calls me today that he wants to play for the Eagles again, of course I will give him a chance to prove himself and possibly go to the World Cup in Brazil next year.”

It is noteworthy that the 25-year-old forward boasts of 11 caps for the Super Eagles since making his debut in a friendly against Austria on 27 May 2008.
