ADMISSION INTO PRE-DEGREE PROGRAMME FOR THE 2013/2014 SESSION
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into PRE-DEGREE PROGRAMMES of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, for the 2013/2014 academic session.
*.PRE-DEGREE PROGRAMMES ON OFFER
The Pre-degree programmes last for one academic session. Each candidate who successfully completes the programme after adequate counseling will choose from the degree programmes listed hereunder. Placements would however depend on performance and available spaces. Candidates must also take the 2014 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be eligible for consideration for admission to the University and must obtain a minimum score of 200 in the examination.
(i)PRE-DEGREE SCIENCE
Biochemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Biology & Fisheries, Geophysics, Industrial Chemistry, Industrial Mathematics, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics with Electronics, and Plant Science & Biotechnology.
(ii)PRE-DEGREE SCIENCE EDUCATION
Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science Education, Health Education, Human Kinetics, Integrated Science, Mathematics Education, Physics and Technical Education.
(iii)PRE-DEGREE ARTS
Linguistics & Yoruba, Religion & African Culture, and Yoruba
(iv)PRE-DEGREE ARTS EDUCATION
Adult Education/Continuing & Non-Formal Education, English Education, History Education, Religious Studies Education, and Yoruba Education.
(v)PRE-DEGREE SOCIAL SCIENCE
Geography & Planning Sciences and Psychology
(vi)PRE-DEGREE SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION
Geography Education and Social Science Education.
B. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
(i)PRE-DEGREE ARTS AND PRE-DEGREE ARTS EDUCATION
A minimum of 5 Credit passes at SSCE (NECO or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings. These must include English Language, Yoruba, Religious Studies, History/Government. (A Credit pass in Literature in English will be required for English Education)
(ii)DEPARTMENT OF LINGUISTICS AND LANGUAGES
The five Credit passes must include English Languages and Yoruba (for B.A. Yoruba) or any language (for B.A. Linguistics).
(iii)DEPARTMENT OF RELIGION AND AFRICAN CULTURE
The five Credit passes must include any of the following:
CRK, IRK, Arabic, Government, Nigerian Languages and two subjects from either Arts or Social Sciences.
(iv)PRE-DEGREE SCIENCE & PRE-DEGREE SCIENCE EDUCATION
A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(v)PRE-DEGREE SOCIAL SCIENCES
A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings. These must include Mathematics, English Language and three other Social Science subjects. Those willing to studyGEOGRAPHY AND PLANNING SCIENCEmust have Credit inGeographyin addition to two other subjects. Those willing to studyPSYCHOLOGYmust have Credit inBiology
(vi)PRE-DEGREE SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION
A minimum of five Credit passes at SSCE (NECO or WAEC) obtained at not more than two sittings. These must include Mathematics, English Language and three other Social Science subjects. Those willing to studyGEOGRAPHY EDUCATIONmust have Credit inGeographyin addition to two other subjects. A pass in Mathematics is acceptable forSocial Studies Education
C. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES
*.Admission into 100 level from Pre-degree is not automatic.
*.Pre-degree candidates are required to take the 2014 UTME and obtain the minimum pass mark of 200 in the examination.
*.Admission of candidates will be dependent on their Weighted Average in the two semesters, the UTME score and their ranking with respect to the cut-off marks for the chosen courses.
*.Any candidate who did not satisfy all the above conditions and still goes on to pay school fees into the University’s Account would forfeit such fund.

AAUA Begins Recruitment To Replace Striking Lecturers by L.M Ayedun..(m): 11:14am
The academic war between Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko [AAUA] in Ondo State and its striking lecturers has deepened following a report that the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Femi Mimiko has commenced recruitment of new lecturers to replace the striking lecturers, having refused to pull out of the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities’ [ASUU] strike.

DailyPost has gathered that Prof. Mimiko remains resolute about his decision to re-open the university on December 2, after he had ordered the students to resume this Monday for the commencement of the second term semester programme.

But the Chairman of ASUU in the institution, Dr. Busuyi Mekusi has described the move by the management as illegal.

He has vowed that the union would resist any action by the Vice-Chancellor to illegally recruit new workers to replace the striking lecturers.
