Futa and physics series dey confuse my brain...someone should help..........an ice cube floats in a glass of water filled to the brim what happens when the ice melts .A.the water level remains the same B there is a drop in d level of water C the water in d glass overflows D the level of water drops because melted ice occupies less volume note..i use the question in physics series 1978 number 6..but its also in futa phy question but diff answers |

bettygirl97: water expands when it freezes and shrinks when it melts. So the water reduces after melting. #Just Saying You're right....but basically,the volume of water remains the same. Since the ice, when it floats, displaces exactly its weight in water...when it melts, the water it melts into takes the same volume that the ice cube displaced in the water. So the water level should remain the same. |
