Ronaldo’s “hatful” in Europe is 14 Champions League goals in 2013, five more than any other player as well. Ronaldo's individual accomplishments is record breaking. Yaya's accomplishments isn't record breaking to topple the accomplishments of Mikel for club or country. Ronaldo vs Ribery is Ground breaking individual performance against a player who was part of a ground breaking team. A tough decision. It isn't the same with Yaya and Mikel. |

What was record breaking about Yaya's performance. Mikel had 3 Man of the match performance in the AFCON last year. Part of the successful Super Eagles who last won the nations cup in '94. He was part of the Chelsea team who became the first team to hold the Champions league and the Europa league in the same year before Bayern won it. Great players go there and fail. Including mid fielders like Mineiro, Oscar, Marin, De Bruyne, Gokhan Tore. For Mikel to be there, he must be special. sucess001: to the OP who is just hating...see a review by a british journalist on mikel...You notice when Mikel does make a mistake or misplace a pass, because it's so rare for him to do so. Mikel is the best screen in front of the defence that Chelsea have - and is one of the best in the world at this role. It does lead people to wonder why he hasn't contributed more goals and assists, but given his role in the side it's safety first for Mikel. Too accurate. I have never read an article of someone who really understands Mikel as this. Nice post success001. |

Mikel is also a big game player. His finest performance to date for the club came in the Champions League final, against Bayern Munich, the greatest night in Chelsea's history. He was arguably man of the match on that day, although Didier Drogba's brilliant equaliser and cup-winning penalty kick overshadowed him on that day. That's often the story for Mikel. A quiet, under-appreciated but crucial part of a trophy-winning side. |
