I have noticed that pentecostal churches never recite our Lord's prayer which Christ himself thought us, instead they prefer to chant gibberish in the name of speaking in tongues. Plz, is dat prayer outdated? Or its just because it is now viewed as a Catholic prayer?

It is an example of how to pray.....Jesus didn't make it compulsory that we should recite it.

Remembered that he was asked: "Master! Teach us how to pray" and not master "Recite a prayer for us"

No problem if you recite it anyway as long as you mean every word written there in.....the key here is the state of heart that offers the the prayer.

Remember, "The prayer of a sinner is an abomination to God"

The Lord's Prayer is a prayer pattern or guide. It contains prayer outline. Since I read "Could you not tarry one hour," by Larry Lea, in the late 1990s, the Lord's prayer has been my prayer pattern. The Lord's prayer is not meant to be recited; it is a prayer guide.

If only you know the mysteries of the finished work, you will understand the so called the Lord's prayer isn't for new testament believers. The Cross is the great divider and is what makes the difference.

All I av read there is vain. Jesus gave the Lord's prayer to believers and the early churches eg. Catholic and even Anglican pray this prayer. There is also nowhere in the bible where any of the disciples wrote anything against these prayer. Stop misleading Christians

Same thread where you tried to emphasize that "our Father is no longer in heaven and that we now pray "In Jesus name".


The finished work on the cross has to do with reconciling man back to God. It has nothing to do with manners of prayer.

Even the apostle still pray to God after the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ. E.g The grace prayer:

2Cor 13:14
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and
the love of God, and the communion of
the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

You can never separate Jesus from God the Father
