How Come Nigerians In Canada Don't Like Each Other? by vadewoyin(f): 12:27am On Aug 14, 2008 |
I want your input on this subject. Nigerian community in Canada has become something else. All they do is fight, take each others wife, cheat on each other. They don't support each other at all Infact when I first got into this country, my very first job was with a Nigerian woman as a supervisor. I trust her so much and I revealed to her my educational background. Could you believe I was fired within 2 days The manager called me and said the Nigerian woman told him about my educational background and how I am overqualified for this position. Personally, I have so much love for my fellow Nigerian but when I meet them, I get disappointed The other aspect is Nigerian Churches in Canada. All they do is compare each others cars and outfits. I have been from one Nigerian church to the other and the same things persist. I was born in Nigeria and I know how wonderful churches can be back home Please I need your input. God bless you everyone I love you all my fellow Nigerian 10 Likes 1 Share |

first of all. . . .where in Canada are you? There are nasty Nigerians everywhere, just as there are nasty Canadians, Egyptians and the like - the key is to avoid the bad ones and roll with the good ones. I have had mostly good experiences with Nigerians in Canada, in four different cities from east to west. I guess you just need to take time and find those ones that would fit you best. With regards to naija churches in Canada though, I have little experiences with that - I've been to RCCG in two cities and they seemed pretty down to earth to me, I don't know about which ones you are experiencing. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Lets stay on topic as much as possible @ poster I'm suspecting you are in Toronto or thereabouts; there are so many types of Nigerians there, from the honest ones to the '19' business specialists to the Owambe masters who dance with KWAM 1 almost every weekend. Just choose your crowd carefully and DO NOT discuss personal business more than is due - you'll simply be exposing yourself to lots of potential harm. |

My imput to the thread is as simple as this. I accuse the threadstarter of making a very outlandish statement without having reliable sources to back it up. I equate this with calling all Nigerians scam artists. 1 Like |

karmaMod, many thanks for that link. Thats truly shocking. It is a scandal and pure disgrace to Nigerian women in UK: A woman caused uproar in court when she pulled two fingers from her handbag claiming they had belonged to one of her six children. Generally, I do not mix with Nigerians abroad. You just cant trust them. 7 Likes |

n-guage: I am abroad because of me, not because of any Nigerian that does not mean ALL Nigerians you cant trust. Last time I checked, there is freedom of association. The poster's experience is enough to show why you need to keep your distance. 14 Likes |

vadewoyin:You are obviously mixing with the wrong crowd. In GTA, there are different of cliques Nigerians (just like any other nationality/background) from different works of life and backgrounds. In my profession, I meet and deal with different people on a daily basis but my closest pals in N.America are Nigerians who I only got to know when I relocated to this part of the world. We rub minds, we laugh, we celebrate, we mourn. . .together. You just have to settle down and look for the right clique that suits you with same goals/aspirations and you'd be fine. Goodluck. 4 Likes |

Naija for life. We have bad ones and good ones. You choose what type of person you will deal with. Even though some of them can be snubbish but who cares. Some are also snubbish in naija |

Brash!: Nigerians have one the highest capability for prejudices of any set of people in the world.esp amongst themselves.i just moved to the uk and i am always irritated when i hear stuff like the generalistaion above.we should learn to judge people based on their personal traits and behaviours.so oyinbos abroad cant get you into wahala?i am not talkin about this thread but personal experiences with family and friends who live here.what if the association with this 'nigerian'could be productive.gosh.am also irritated by words like 'that naija'.pls stop generalising.not just about nigerians but everyone. |
Re: How Come Nigerians In Canada Don't Like Each Other? by Ndipe(m): 6:56pm On Sep 09, 2008 |
story about a Nigerian woman and fingers is very bizzare. Reminds me of an incident in California when a woman attempted to extort money from Wendys by planting a finger/thumb inside her dish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Ayala As for mixing with Nigerians, to be honest, no matter the negativity that Nigerians abroad are accustomed to, I sometimes find myself gyrating towards the Nigerian crowd at social events. @the poster, stop generalizing, not all Nigerians are bad. |

What part of Canada? It depends and not everybody is like that. There are good and bad people all over the world. I am a Nigerian and I live in Alberta, Canada. I am a student here and so far, most Nigerians here have been so nice and accomodating. Sure there are exceptions, not everybody is nice. |

I have a few question for the Naijas who live in Canada. Are Nigerians a fast growing community in Canada? How many of us are there? Where are we concentrated? Thanks. |
