Spanish coach Juan Ignacio Martínez Jiménez will be named as the new Ghana coach ahead of the Black Stars Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda next month, a local radio station has reported.

According to a report on the local radio station Joy FM, Jimenez will be named as the new Black Stars coach by next week to replace Kwesi Appiah who was sacked last month.

According to the report, the 50-year-old is said to have stolen the march of Michel Pont and Avram after excelling during an interview session two weeks ago.

The Ghana FA is keen to end speculation about who will take over from Kwesi Appiah by announcing the Spanish as the new coach of the Black Stars as an executive committee member of the Ghana FA claims.

The Spanish popularly known as ‘JIM’ was appointed at La Liga side Levante UD on 9th June 2011, replacing Getafe CF-bound Luis Garcia.

After two draws in the first two rounds, Martínez coached the team to seven consecutive wins; including a 1–0 home triumph against Real Madrid which led the league during several rounds

He exhibited promises to manage and has the experience of managing big stars and big egos, which could come in handy with respect to players like Sulley Muntari, Michael Essien and Kevin Prince Boateng and other egoistic characters yet to sprout in the near future.

Avram Grant says it is an honour to be made coach of Ghana following the GFA’s decision to hand the vacant job to the ex Chelsea boss.

The 54-year-old will be the next coach of the Black Stars once he agrees to personal terms and the finer details of a two-year contract.

The decision to hand the Israeli the job was made by the Ghana FA’s Executive Committee on Friday following a report tabled by sub-committee charged to search for the new Ghana coach.

Grant was adjudged to have impressed the most amongst the three who were interviewed for the vacant job.

The GFA has put Juan Ignacio Jiminenz on stand-by once an agreement is not reached with the preferred choice – Avram Grant.

The former Chelsea coach who can’t wait to get started says he is honoured to be given the his job on the African continent.

“It is a great honour to be given the nod to handle arguably the best soccer nation on the continent,” Grant told Footballmadeinghana.

“I am very delighted with this opportunity and I will do my best to move the Black Stars forward.

“I already know and monitor almost all the Ghanaian players playing abroad and I also know some of them playing in the local league so it will never be a problem.”

Grant will be the substantive replacement for Kwesi Appiah who was fired back in September.

Maxwell Konadu – the substantive assistant coach of the side – has been acting as interim head coach as the GFA nears the completion of a substantive.

Grant will thus lead the Black Stars to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations all things being equal.

Ghana’s coaching staff will engage angry goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey in talks to convince him to return to the Black Stars ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Norway-based shot stopper will be courted by stand-in coach Maxwell Konadu and other officials to assuage him of him worries about his stint with the team at the World Cup in June.

However, Konadu who will remain the assistant coach of the Black Stars says a lot of tact is needed in addressing Kwarasey’s concerns as it is a sensitive matter.

Kwarasey turned down the chance to be part of the team for the qualifiers against Uganda and Togo this week following his absence since the tournament in Brazil.

He angrily lashed out at goalkeepers’ trainer Nassam Yakubu claiming he played the key role in his exclusion from the Ghana starting line up in the match against Germany and Portugal at the World Cup.

Despite his rejected for the invitation to arrive in Ghana for the talks with officials over his concerns, Konadu says they will continue to engage to goalkeeper to ensure his return to the side.

“We invited him to come just like we did for Gyan so we can sit and discuss the issue. I think he has some small issues to deal with that’s why he wasn’t able to make it,” Konadu told reporters.

“Kwarasey’s issue we need to tackle it very well, I think as a player he wants to play for his country I am sure of that.

“We are still talking and I think everything will be okay. He is not a difficult guy and will always want to come and play; we just have to do the right things to make sure that he comes back.”

and team officials is set to end soon.

Interim coach of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu has confirmed that Kwarasey declined an invitation to play for the country in the final qualifying games against Uganda – last Saturday – and Togo.

The Norway-based keeper last played for Ghana when they played the United States in the opening game of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He has since then failed to honour calls from the national team following his fallout with goalkeeper trainer Nassam Yakubu.

Augsburg Ghanaian defender Abdul Baba Rahman has been ranked as the sixth best player in the Germany Bundesliga midway through the season.

Highly-rated European football website, whoscored.com, ranked the 22-year-old above Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso as well as Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez.

Dutch star Arjen Robben lead the rankings and closely been followed by Kevin De Bruyne, Karim Bellarabi, Marco Reus and Nando in that order.

Rahman has simply been scintillating since he joined Augsburg from German second-tier side Greuth Furth.

He has seen his stock risen within a short time as he continues to gain inches in the media for his sweltering performances.

The former Kotoko left-back played an influential role for the Black Stars as they secured qualification to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Newly-appointed Black Stars coach Avram Grant says his side have potential to reach the grande-finale of a FIFA World Cup.

The Israeli was unveiled as the head coach of the four time African champions and 2010 FIFA World Cup quarter-finalists on Thursday in Accra.

Grant takes over from Kwesi Appiah who was sacked last September for failing to improve the team’s performance after the 2014 FIFA World Cup fiasco.

The 54-year-old is set for his first job in Africa after spells in Europe-where he led English side Chelsea to reach the Uefa Champions League final-and Asia.

“I think when you choose a team with potential it can be easy not just this national team but there is the U-20 and the U-17,” the former Chelsea boss said.

“So for me it’s very exciting to develop these potentials to prepare them to win major competitions.

“For me it’s possible that an African country especially Ghana with the hundreds of players in Europe to make it into the final stage of the World Cup.”

Grant’s first major assignment will be the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea which kick-starts on 17 January
