After following the situation in Iraq, one question began troubling me; what caused the hate between shias and sunnis. I was even more troubles when sunni rebels/jihaddist, ISIS, declared an Islamic state in iraq(having shias and sunnis) ,following fierce fighting between Iraq govt forces and the sunni militias,as well as establishing a caliphate spanning from syria to iraq. They have appointed a leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as caliph and "leader for Muslims everywhere". So I ask, what led to the bitter hatred between shias and sunnis and which do we practise in Nigeria?
