I Warned Sulley Before World Cup Started, Says Muntari’s Father by pontirock(m): 8:54pm On Jul 02, 2014
Ghanaian football Super
Star Sulley Muntari’s
father, Alhaji Muniru
Sulley, has opened up on
the recent scandal
involving his son at the
Black Stars World Cup
Camp in Brazil.
Muntari is reported to
have slapped Black Stars
Management Committee
member, Moses Armah
Parker, after an argument
at the team’s base.
In a telephone chat,
Muntari’s father, who
doubles as the leader of
the Hausa community in
Dofa, says “it’s a shame
the incident occurred at
all,” and it shouldn’t have
assuming Sulley listened
to his warnings before
leaving for the team left
for U.S.A for their pre
World Cup schedules.
“He has called me to
apologize for his actions,
and the first thing I told
him was, ‘remember what
I told you before you left
for camp? As a former
coach I know how heated
the environment could be,
but yet, he went on to do
what he did, that’s
children for you,” said
Muntari’s father in the
telephone call.
The incident saw many
Ghanaians calling for the
Milan midfielder to be
permanently banned from
the National team, to
serve as ‘a deterrent’ to
the other players.
The Ghanaian FA had
issued a short statement
on the issue. It reads:
‘The Ghana Football
Association (GFA) has
suspended Sulley Ali
Muntari indefinitely from
the Black Stars, with
immediate effect.’ ‘The
decision was taken in the
wake of his unprovoked
physical attack on an
Executive Committee
member of the GFA, and a
management member of
the Black Star.’ The
statement read.
Earlier, the Ghanaian
team were involved in
another controversy when
the players boycotted
training, and threatened
not to board the flight to
Brasilia to honor the final
group G match with
Portugal, because they
had not received their
appearance fees and
bonuses, before the
government sent a plane
with $3.8 million to settle
the issue.
