It's been one hell of a day
My bones worked too hard to be okay
Never has a day been like today
So, on my bed let me lay!

I wearily marched home
Momma said "welcome"
Papa let out a "well done"
But I wouldn't answer; I felt numb
Or maybe dumb!
"Goodnight!" I said to everyone

On my lumpy bed I now lay
Reminiscing about this hell of a day:
Traffic to work wasn't friendly at all
The bus conductor had body odour!
Rain came down in an unmerciful downpour
I was drenched to the core
Went very late to work
My table had an unusual pile of paper work
Met the stony face of "Boss"
He threatened to show me the door!
Lunch was scarcely seasoned with salt
Halfway through lunch I had a nasty phone call
From old Mr Billy who blamed me to a fault
For being responsible for his daughter's hurt
But how could I marry someone I didn't love?

Coming back home, traffic was much worse
Bus driver followed the wrong route; so we got lost!
We wandered extensively in the city of Lagos
Got robbed and badly handled by teenage hoodlums
Trekked the long distance home; yearning redemption
My head aching so badly, even Panadol cannot cure
So "Goodnight!"
