One afternoon, Akinjoko arrived
home with sad news for his
wife.
Akinjoko: Wife, I just received a
call, mother (mama) passed
away. Shall we go to town and
get some necessities for the
funeral? Please write a list and
then we can go.
Wife: A list won’t be necessary;
we’ll just get 2 cabbages & 2
litres of cooking oil.
Akinjoko: Is it going to be
enough?
Wife: No need to waste money,
of course it’s going to be
enough! (They left for town and
after getting two cabbages and
2 litres of cooking oil).
Akinjoko asked his wife again if
that was all. She emphasised the
issue of not wasting money on
the funeral.
Then they hit the road towards
the village. Where the road
branches to different villages,
Akinjoko who was driving, took a
turn towards his wife’s home.)
Wife: Where are we going? I
thought you said we are going
to the funeral, your mother
passed away.
Akinjoko: Yes we are; it’s YOUR
mother who passed away.
Wife (shocked & crying): But
that grocery is not enough!
Let’s go back and get some
more stuff!
Akinjoko: NO! I asked you over
and over if it was all that was
needed and you said “yes”; so
we are not going back!

AAUA 2014/2015 Admission: JAMB Approves First Batch
9,140 out of Over 16,000 Candidates Score 40% and
above
Results Released Under 24 Hours
Best Candidate had 201 UTME, 90% Post-UTME Scores
The first batch of admission for the 2014/2015 academic
session of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko,
Ondo State, Nigeria, has been approved by the Joint
Admissions and Matriculation Board.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, gave the
revelation on Wednesday last week, while briefing the
Information Unit of the University on the outcome of the
Institution’s Post- Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examination, PUTME, which took place from Wednesday,
August 6, to Tuesday, August 12, 2014. The results were
released and posted on the University web site less than
24 hours after the conclusion.
Prof. Ajayi said, “The first batch of our admission will be
released very soon. It has been approved by JAMB and it
will be made public very soon. And we are already
working on the supplementary admission list in order to
meet up with the JAMB October deadline admission
exercise.”
Prof. Ajayi who disclosed that the University’s admission
quota this year was about 4, 000, said that 9,140 of about
17,000 Candidates who took part in the Post-UTME scored
40 per cent and above.
The DVC expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the
Post-UTME, saying, “I was impressed by conduct of
exams. The exercise was hugely successful. Remember
that this is first time of using our own Computer-Based
Test model facilities and about 17,000 candidates were
tested. There was evidence of thorough planning.”
Responding to the issue of some candidates whose
results were yet to be released, The DVC said, “Some
results were yet to be released because some of the
candidates failed to comply with the exam instructions,
including attempting more than required questions. We
are still going to release more results. As at today
(Wednesday, August 27), we have released 16,611 results
out of which 45 per cent scored below 40 per cent, while
55% of them passed Meanwhile, the Deputy Registrar
(Academic), Mr. Adedayo Adedeji, who spoke with the
Information on Tuesday last week, reminded candidates
that the 40 per cent pass mark for the exercise is not the
cut-off mark for admission.
Mr. Adedeji said the pass mark for the University system
is 40 per cent while the cut-off mark varies from
programme to programme.
Oluwatimileyin John Emmanuel, who applied to study
Philosophy, had the highest mark of 90 per cent in the
Post-UTME but scored 201 in UTME.
Ayomide Mayowa Adasu, whose choice of course of study
is Economics, came second with 82 per cent in Post-
UTME and 213 in UTME.
The duo of Mosopefoluwa Fayehun and Moyosoreoluwa
Akinsete who applied for Law scored 80 per cent each to
occupy third position. Fayehun however scored 250 in
UTME while Akinsete had 228 in the same examination.
